Just wanted to say hey to the nissan guys and meet everyone. Im Dave and im new to the zilvia forums, but ive been a member of supraforums for years. I recently bought my first S14 (not my first nissan though, I had a S13 a couple years ago). I bought this S14 with the S15 conversion for a steal, I just couldnt pass it up lol. I also own a Toyota Supra thats single turbo'd, although its been in a shop since june because I spun a rod bearing. Heres some pics of both the cars and some of the progress Ive made after picking the car up friday Dec/9/2011.

When I picked it up friday:

Friday night, removing the 4,000 coats of VHT off the headlights:

Saturday morning:

The results after fixing the mounting issues with the bumper and cleaning the lights:

Today I attacked the roof with some polish and a good ole orbiter buffer. The clearcoat was extremely bad:

My flame suit is prepared for this next pic, my second wife, Das Supra:
Pic was taken when it spun the rod bearing, if you look close you can see a blue Z32 and a white supra behind me lol.

Couldn't locate it. This forum is setup so different from supraforums or clubna-t. But hey thanks for being the first flamer. Much appreciated.

I'm sorry. I've been on here a total of......30 minutes. I couldn't locate the new member section, but now I know why. There isn't one. There's only a thread. If I changed the title to "My S14.5 build" then it wouldn't be an issue? How was it friendly? Ending it with "for a reason" didn't feel friendly. Is this what I should expect from zilvia.net or is it because everyone has the belief that supra owners are assholes?

Thanks wonpoo, lvnismo, and sash_ak41 for the warm welcome. Hope to learn a lot from everyone on here. Maybe I can figure out why the mirrors don't work and why I smell fuel under the hood lol.

Read my last post. I found it. I'm used to there being a section not just a thread.

Yes it is.

It's hard to impress zilvia
old members have grown jaded from wave after wave of bandwagon jumpers
and most think s15 conversions look like garbage

if you have thick skin and make worthwhile contributions you'll be fine in the long end

None really. It's a bone stock Ka, with a HP Racing exhaust? It has HP Design wheels 19", I think 8.5 fronts and 10 rears. Never heard of neither brand. The interior needs a facelift because the previous previous owners put wood grain crap everywhere and the previous owner tried to remove it and broke almost every piece of trim. Swapped the deck out yesterday because there was a cheap pioneer in it. The speakers were kenwood but I also swapped them for some mid grade pioneers. It has lowering springs and some aftermarket shocks but haven't got the car on a lift yet to see which brand. That's about all I can think of.

It's my daily atm so the restore process is gonna be slow.

Im a new owner of a MK4 TT and i own s13/s14 still love all of them the same. I notice people who talk down on supras are people who don't own one.

Welcome to zilvia!

Welcome to Zilvia. I had a 95 TT MKIV BPU++ a few years ago as well. I now have a S14 and absolutely love it! If you need any parts for your car let me know. I have two S14s that I'm parting out.

what type of polish is that you used on your roof, my clear is messed up like that and ive tried several polishes, or is the orbital buffer the key to making it work right?

It's turtle wax polishing compound. It's for medium oxidation. I couldn't have done it without the buffer though. It has variable speeds. I had to dig into it pretty hard to get it like glass but the results are well worth it.

Hmmm...you got a close up of the roof and show a before and after? I got bad oxidation too but been too lazy to tackle it.

But in all honesty tho, you should punch the previous owner. Who the fuck gets the car repainted and not repaint the roof too? Mind you, orange wouldnt be my first choice of colors but why 2 tone it and not repaint the black roof?!?! Maybe he can only afford 3/4 of a paint job so the roof didnt get painted.

NINJA EDIT: NM, I saw the picture when you were buffing the roof. What did you use exactly on it? I might just do this shit in the next week or so and see if i can save the paint. Did you wet sand the clear coat first or you just went to town with the buffer and wax?

how did you restore the headlights?

A lot of trial and error. They look great in the pics but up close you can see some blemishes. I tried using acetone, thinner, and just sanding the crap out of them but couldn't get the nightshades off. Finally I went back to advanced auto and found a rattle can of aircraft stripper. I sprayed it on and 30 seconds later it was bubbling the paint off. I let it sit a little too long and it ate some plastic. After I got all the paint off I started wetsanding. Started at 220 grit then 400, 800, 1000, 1500, and finally 2000. After that I just sprayed some clear coat to protect it and that's it.

I was gonna wetsand it but I said the hell with it and tried the buffer. After about 10 minutes in a small area I saw shiny paint. Used turtle wax polish compound for medium oxidation.
