Machining J30 Hub to use retaining clips

I understand that in order to use the retaining clips on the J30 hubs with s13 bearings, the hub needs to be machined. I am replacing the bearings on my s13 and the previous owner told me that the hubs currently have no retaining clips.

Can somebody here with knowledge explain to me exactly what needs to be done. I have seen the other writeups and pictures, but they usually have no information as to what exactly needs to be machined. The pictures don't make sense so I must be missing something.

Also, where do you think I could get retaining clips for the hubs? Would that be a dealer only thing?

It took hours of search for just that measurement

Few people have told me that safety clip is something do can live without,I spoke to my guy at the machine shop he said the same.
