Well for one,a KA24DET would be a turbocharged KA 2.4 litre engine....KA is the block code, since the KA series was 'sand-casted' the first two letters is ...KA.Next is 24,pretty clear how they got that! Then we have the 'E' ,and 'DE' part, wich is for 'Engine',or 'SOHC Engine',while the 'DE stands for DOHC Engine. And the 'T' would be for turbocharged....Since you bought it for 500$ I doubt its a KA-T !

Altima had the KA24DE,I'm not sure how different the head is set-up becaue the altima is a FWD car.

I also know that the hardbody/Frontier/xterra( truck, and SUV) had them also, but the truck/suv KA's are set-up differently from the one you would find in your S13,...the distributor is mounted significantly higher on the 240sx version, and the hardbody application engine would not mount without modification.

Why don't you just pull one off an S13 at the junkyard?

Or search the marketplace on here in Zilvia, somebodys bound to have a good head for sale...

eBay is another great place to check out, but be careful with that...

Hope this helps somehow !

EDIT: To my knowledge, all S13's are 2+2s....no need to say it :) !

just buy a whole new engine. they are cheap. either from a junkyard or from the classifieds here, on freshalloy.com or nissaninfiniticlub.net

well i would sorta like to keep this engine, Has high compression pistons, balanced crank, larger valves, the only problem is that the head is cracked. So i want to get a cylinder head, get the larger valves put in it and be done with it. How much would a new KA24DE go for anyway. i am selling a CRX, i know its a honda, but i liked the fact that the get like 40 MPG. I am getting 2500 for it. so maybe i should go SR20. Would it cost alot for the Sr engine and tranny. and what else i need to install??

This is retarded. You can't get a RWD sports car KA head from a truck, or an altima, or anything but a 240sx. You may be able to rig one, but it will have different breathing properties. You also can't just "put in" larger valves. That's a $400 valvejob at most good machine shops. High compression pistons defeats chances of a KA-Turbo'd. Search for a new KA24DE. Keep your CRX if you like gas mileage. Stock I got 26mpg, now I get 24mpg. That's 2x the gas, and with high comp pistons or a sr20, you need to fill up with the good stuff. So that's 3x the gas money. SEARCH FOR THE SR20DET INFORMATION! SEARCH FOR THE SR20DET INFORMATION! SEARCH FOR THE SR20DET INFORMATION! $2500 won't score you a good clip shipped to your house. You won't have money to install it. You won't know how to install it yourself because you appear clueless in this post. I really don't think that you know what you're trying to get yourself into, and if you really want this $2500 swapped 240sx, spend 8 hours searching and reading posts here. Then go to FreshAlloy and spend 8 hours reading posts there, and then 8 more hours sifting through the "Best of 240sx" archive. Once you know what you're talking about, realize that you don't have the money or knowledge to do this, and go home.
I need Dousan's sig pic. "Crushing Ricer Dreams."

The E doesn't mean engine dipstick. LOL. It's for EFI, or Electronic Fuel Injection.

I know that the E stands for EFI, but i was not sure if i could get a DOHC cylinder head off a stanza, i am new to nissan, but i know that there are differences in cars. I went on a site, automix.com, and the stanza and 240 head are same part number, and same price, so i wanted to make sure that i would be getting the right part ok. And Jeff no offense, but i sorta know what i am talking about when i talk about cars, just not specific things like interchangable parts. And about wiring, i probably could wire in a SR, but i dont want a SR, i want a KA. After college i will go KA-T and be done with it, i am not going for all out drag or drift, just moderate street performance.

o ok, sorry about that kandy. didnt really reread to think what others said. anyway, can anyone help, when i order the cylinder head, the stanza and 240 cylinder heads are the same numbers??

um...clear problem with that is that the stanza is a single cam, ka24e...and ur 92 is a dual cam, ka24de...so yeah..heads are different there...let alone most times fwd ka heads dont match up to rwd ka heads...etc.

Okay... so has anyone even touched on the fact that alll KA24DE engines are high compression, and have a balanced Crank...

Dude I think you have a bone stock KA in there and the person that sold it to you tried to make you think differently seeings how you know nothing about the 240sx.

Go get yourself a KA24DE from a 1991 240sx from a wrecking yard and throw a turbo kit on it. You'll get upwards of 220 rwhp which is a lot cheaper than dropping in an SR motor...

That's my 2 cents.

well considering the point that it would be stupid to lie to me since i only payed 500 dollars for the car. and u can tell it has larger valves, and domed pistons. but u are right, i am dont know alot about the 240, see thats the problem with getting the new cam/cylinder head, no one around here has a junk 240 cylinder head that is DOHC.

First off... the KA has large Valves... I know cause I've rebuilt tons of them... All I do is KAs... I'll admit, ask me an SR question and I might be wrong about it...

The KA has large valves stock, plus it has Dome Pistons on the DE model. Now if you told me that you had a single cam with dome pistons, I'd tell you that it was after market.

The KA24DE... the DOHC has a compression ratio of 9.6:1
The KA24E... the SOHC has a compression ratio of 8.5:1 in the 89 models and an 8.6:1 in the 1990 models. If it was a truck KA seeings how it was not designed for the truck until 1991 the 1991 KA24E single Cam has a compression of 8.65:1.

Okay the 1997 and Up Nissan Frontier Pickup has the KA24DE also, which is compatible with your Engine...

I don't know if anyone around that would have a 1997 Nissan Frontier Pickup.

You can also find the engine for sale in this forum or on the Nico Forum. And most people will be willing to ship it to you.

I have a good head from a 92 240sx. if you want it. I dont have the cams though. but they are easier to find then the head. Let me know if you want it. I also have another head thats real shiny and clean but needs a lil bit of everything when it comes to valves/shims/cams/the brass things that I cant think of what they are called right now cause im tired/retainers/and springs. oh and a weed wacker piston that would fit nicely on a keychain. if you want them pm me or something.
