Hey guys i have a 1996 s14, i bought the car about a week ago, for some odd reason i have this weird whining noise now at idle. even when im driving it is there and sounds like a supercharger wine when i drive it. i noticed if i leave the clutch pushed down the noise isnt there at idle.
-i just replaced the clutch with a new exedy oem replacement kit. i thought it was the throw out bearring but its still making the noise.
any help would be much appreciated. thanks guys.

could be your pilot bearing OR your transmission.... if its not the pilot it is DEF the tranny... i had the same problem turned out it was the tranny after i went thru 3 pilot bearings.

I had a similiar issue occur. I thought it was my TOB, it ended up being the trans and a few months later I lost 3rd, 4th, 5th and REV...

...after going through 3 pilot bushings... (both the nismo 'needle bearing' style and the oem brass type) and having them whine until they destroy themselves (also feels like a slight vibration through the clutch pedal) I'm fairly certain that the input shaft has some play in it. time for a replace or rebuild. :\

guess ill just drive it till it blows up then haha. ill replace it when it gets really bad i guess. but i put some additive into the tranny doesnt seem to bad now. noise isnt as bad. but the guy i know is supposed to look at it for me again.

does it make the same noise when your coming to a stop an you put it in first but dont let off the clutch pedal yet? kinda like a wined up toy noise?
if so then its your trans.

ummm it kinda does not really? when i drive threw 1st 2nd and 3rd it wines up when driving. im sure its the tranny. is it something to worry about? iv been told if its the input shaft bearring then its not to bad of a thing that you can drive on them for awhile. just an annoyance

i wouldnt worry about it. drive it till it breaks. then just throw a new trans in. you should get a trans before it breaks though, so there isnt much down time while trying to find one.
