So I want to get 3' blast pipes, my car has a sr20det
And was wondering if I put a resonator would it make it sound alil more quieter since I know blast pipes are loud..

If u can help me what kind of resonator should I buy nothing expensive just something that would help it be alil quiet

There's a reason they're called BLAST pipes. Weld on about 5 resonators and you should be fine.

Why would you get blast pipes and then try and make them quiet? Isn't that defeating the purpose.

It's like asking for a cheeseburger with no cheese....or a peanut butter and jelly without the jelly.

quieter no, less raspy and cleaner yes. thats all resonators do is lessen the rasp and clean up the tone. I ran a 3" straight pipe with a res on my KA. was ungodly loud but was still a clean "not ricey" tone.

whats a few of the cleanest sounding straight pipes? I dont care how loud the car is, i just want a car with as little rasp as possible. Is the isis 4" a good one?

I have the aspec blast pipes, no cat with a vibrant performance 10" resonator. Gets rowdy around 4k ish at wot but not raspy or shitty sounding. I have an sr btw. Here is a link because I can't figure out how to embed lol

Keep in mind, this is just revving, not under load while driving so its not quite as loud. Can hear the turbo whistle through the exhaust so its pretty straight through

Resonator Size: 4" Round Body, 9.5" Long
Overall Length: 12"

turbo and NA are completely different in noise, the turbo makes things less raspy and noise lol

this is true, but even a straight pipe on a turbo setup sounds raspy

i had the isis straights on my sr (no cat or resonator) it would sound great above 4k, but below that it would sounded extremely raspy and kind of annoying

i would definitely recommend a resonator NA or turbo

I've got the isis blast pipe 3" to 4" duels on my sr, and its really annoying for anything other than blasting around the track. I even thought about putting a small muffler in the system towards the rear lol.

I've had luck with "cherry bomb" style mufflers / resonators when eliminating bassy raspy tones.

Runs a straight pipe, gets a fix it ticket, finds this thread on Zilvia, fails to read the answers above, but still asks for help when there is virtually no way you can "silence" a straight pipe and expects good answers.

Listen, if you want to do it right, slap your stock exhaust on and get the ticket written off. If you're stupid enough, put the straight pipe back on.

Resonators are put in to enhance the tone not to silence the sound.

I don't care what you say, straight pipes on a N/A 4 cylinder is RICE.

OP, you have an turbo motor, it will be semi-quiet already.

i had the 3 and 4inch isis for some time now and ive been wanting to get rid of it and get and hks. hks is too pricey so i put dual silencer and it helped alot. i can actually listene to music in the car. I might put resonator on if i find a cheap use one on sale.

If you're set on getting a resonator to clean up and quiet down the sound, Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator. If it doesn't have to be a resonator, Magnaflow and Flowmaster have many chambered mufflers that would help.

agree'd i put a super turbo chambered muffler on my s14 blast pipes and it quieted them down significantly

http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac206/shanelach/IMG_20121101_135617.jpg cut tips before y, sectioned, moved them back, cut hangers off, moved them forward, added Vibrant straight through muffler, cut tips to liking.

Much quieter.
