Hey guys I just got a 240 not to long ago and one of my buddys is selling me his 2way diff off his S13 and its just been sitting there for a good while now. What i want to know is what to look for when I open to make sure its in good condition? What do you guys recommend?

look for scarring, and chunks of metal. smooth rotation of the moving parts, play in the any of the shafts, the true test would be to bolt that sucker up and take it for a spin, lol.

With the diff off of the car, grab each side and try to spin them against each other. There should be quite a bit of resistance. Honestly though, I'd want to crack it open and see its sexy bits before slapping it on. Just bring some blue rtv to reseal it and roll on.
