View Full Version : ECU Grounding?

I installed an EBC and a turbo timer on the car but ran the grounds for both into the grounds from the ECU. I've heard that the grounds for the ECU are kinda weird.
My problem is that the car runs lean and funny. No solid idle, and the wideband doesn't read what it should. No reading at idle and when I'm in the gas the car doesn't read either. Only when I let off of the gas that the wideband drops down to 13 or so but then goes back up.
Do you guys think I may be overwhelming the grounds on the ECU?

Any comments?

using a different ground for your boost controller and turbo timer is probably a good idea. leave the ground for the ecu alone. as for the a/f not reading properly, if you are using a non heated 02 sensor, the sensor might be too far from the turbo. one wire sensors need heat to operate. move the sensor closer to the turbo.

Is the wideband a greddy unit, or a 4 wire wideband instead of 6 wire

It's a stock o2 so I assume it's a heated sensor. And it's located on the turbo elbow so I'm thinking it couldn't get any closer to the turbo.

It's a 4 wire wideband I think. An AEM UEGO.

Oops, meant to say 5 wire. And aem should have 5

the sensor is probably bad. ask AEM how to check the sensor.

I would say it's bad but the car reflects what the sensor is reading. It's sluggish and doesn't idle smooth.
I installed nissan datascan and turned up the air fuel mixture to "125", whatever that means, and the car idles fine and runs strong. This leads me to believe that something is wrong related to a sensor that controls this fuel output.
