Wrapping is expensive unless you are going to DIY, and doesn't look nearly as good. A good paint job will last you the lifetime of the car where a wrap has a lifespan limited to the type of vinyl you are using.

Well see im building the car to drift and I want the car to look good but at the same time i dont really want to put an expensive paint job on it and then go out and scrape a wall or something and have to deal with all the trouble of fixing the paint and stuff. where a wrap would be easy to reapir if that did happen

Then by all means DIY, there are quite a bit of vids on youtube how to do it. It is relatively easy to do except for more complex panels, get the widest roll that you can get so you don't have to double up on panels(I think you can get rolls up to 60" wide by a couple hundred yards IIRC) My buddy wrapped his own car and it looks alright, it's good though because if a panel does get messed up he can just replace the vinyl on that panel.

Ohh look its this thread again!
Wrapping it is good if you think you will be crashing a lot or your kit will get knock off alot.
Paint is good if you don't plan on doing any of that because you wont do tandem, and take safe lines.
Either of them can look very good, it just depends on the materials used.

I plan on pushing my car as hard as i can so im gonna be scraping stuff and the kit will fly off haha. I think wrapping is the route im gonna take.

Wrapping for our car is easy. Its the material that gets pretty expensive too. Since our cars doesn't have a lot of lines (stock panels, then its fine.... But certain stuff like bumpers is going to be a pain in wrapping. Fenders, hoods, doors, roof, trunk, are all easier. Wrapping bumpers, side skirts, rear bumpers, is going to be a pain.

I have tried doing it and seen it done. Wrapping a car is really like putting on decals, except you don't use water and use a torch.

It is possible to have a nice vinyl wrapped car up close.

Problem is people are too cheap to do it, and it can cost just as much as a paint job.

Chances are, even if you crash your car and scuff the paint, it will still look better than if you wrapped it in vinyl.

Everyone is saying that painting your car is better than vinyl.. But it seems you already made up your mind and want to vinyl your car still. so what's the point of going on with this thread.. Because there are already a bunch of these

Paint your car a color that you can buy in a can from any hardware store. Then you can touch up the paint whenever you want. Plus it will help prevent rust as opposed to helping rust flourish.

If you want a crazy graphic/color scheme go with a wrap. When you get sick of it peel it off and you'll still have a minty pant job under the protectant, wrap, you had on.

We do wraps here where i work and it doesnt look to bad. also 3M just came out with some new wrap material that does have a metallic finish to it and it looks like the real thing. But honestly i would still go with paint considering it runs about 2500 and up depending on the material you want. Most of the people that get it are pretty wealthy people who like to change the color of there car alot, or they wanna do carbon fiber wraps on the hood, roof shit like that

You cant afford to fix your gay pos car, and you expect to sell a stuffed pikachu on zilvia to get money to fix it, but you know how to spell. Lmao Kid you fail at life so stop trying.

hahaha you mean something signed by a racing legend? The same day he conquered pikes peak and shattered a record that was thought to be unbreakable?

Oh i forgot, you are pretty much all about hard-parking, so yeah actual motorsports would be no interest to you.

Car is now being fixed. Financial situation sucked when it happened seeing as I had just sent 2 grand back home to my mom. That way her house would not be foreclosed on. Situation is now fixed because I did a shitload of freelance work for some extra cash.

No, you can't spell or type for shit. Everything I've read from you is a run on sentence, or is typed like you are a 13 year old girl.

Sorry but I believe we should have pride in our language.
not typ lik this u kno, because it makes you look like an idiot.

You know what's the best part? I have dyslexia, yet all of my posts are constructed 10x better than yours. This is Because I take pride in it.

Then again, why would I expect that from Jersey.

Just because you have money and have gone to grad school doesn't make you any less of an asshole. In fact having to resort to such lows as to call the dude out for not being made of money only looks bad upon you.

I am a member of the armed forces, I made twice what I make now as an IT consultant before I enlisted.

I joined because I wanted to something important and give back to this country what I have gotten out of it.

So don't dare take a shot at me saying I don't work hard, I work harder than you know.

Also I have almost completed my bachelors, It's not too easy to do in between deployments, but you are right, you work so much harder than the rest of us.

*edit* I live in Co springs, population about 750,000 bout 45 min below Denver, which is one of the biggest cities in the world, and its BEAUTIFUL, not a shithole like Jersey.

so yeah, I totally live in the middle of no where...

You know why I live here as well? I am stationed here at one of the most prestigious bases in the world, the US Air Force Academy.

but I am OH so jealous of you being in Jersey, shit i totally made the wrong life decision.

This whole second page isn't even about wrapping anymore lol.

I talked to a guy about it and the prices he gave me were crazy. I would never do it myself because if I f'd up one spot my OCD would make my brain explode. Based off prices I would say it's personal preference. I prefer paint myself.

To OP, I did it because my car was rattle canned horribly when I first got it and I wanted to try it out.

It looks decent, but I would have gone with paint if i was going to do it the 2nd time around.
