now all they need is a 2.6 liter kit for the KA.....but i do like the sound of a 2.4 liter SR

on the next page they should have a kit that destrokes a ka to 2.0 liters, then it would be really funny.

you can build better bore/stroke combos in a ka hybrid for way less.

Btw. i have a ka2.3 on my engine stand ;) went with a larger bore 88x90.7mm. Built the shortblock for less than those rods likely cost.

Judging by the sleeves there at 89.5 or 90mm, the bore spacing of the sr is very similar to that of the ka. Anyone know the exact bore spacing of the sr?

Die hard? No, but I would ask what this kit costs, and then I would compare it to the cost/power outputs of a KA24DE-T with a STILL stock T25/T28 (dependent on SR starting point) turbo'dstroked SR... Now factor in the fact that anyone that coule do this work themselves would save themselves at least that much money and could also get a great deal of their parts at a junkyard (Used KA, Z31/32 MAF) and may other parts that would NOT equate to buying/shipping an SR to wherever you are... If I could find a way to practically and for less money invested do THIS instead of a KA turbo and get better horsepower/torque output, then the 2.4L stroker kit for the SR would make more sense to me... Hell, use stock KA crank and aftermarket rods/pictons and I bet you'd STILL save money when you compare it to paying for/shipping an SR and THEN building it with the stroker kit. Feel free to discuss this amongst yourselves and flame me as ignorance dicatates .now

Say I destroked my KA and ended up with 2.2 liters +turbo, what would i do with my ECU?? How high could I set my rev limiter??

Does anyone make a destroked KA kit??

Hmm... I wonder what the rod/stroke ratio for that engine would be? Isn't the stock SR20's 1.64 or something lame like that already? :D

Whats the advantage of destroking it? I would rather have a KA26. Think of the torque. :)

Destroked + turbo + higher revs = advantage. Forget a turbo if you stroke the KA...totally undriveable.

Yes with a balanced destroked rotating assembly, the shortblock will be able to reach much more rpms. As far as rev limiters go, modified ecu, or standalone type would be needed.

I will have my website up in the next month offering many ka performance parts, a few different stroke combos will be offered.

note. not much can be done with the ka block, in order to swap different cranks a z block should be utilized. This gives you almost unlimited options. The smaller z block is much stronger than ka.

kade head can be modified to fit l, z, and ka24e block.
kaE head direct swap to l,z series and easily uses dual row timing chain

this gives you two main strokes to work with, 86mm, and 92mm. You can stroke these two further to get even more possibilities.

So you are saying I could theoretically get a DOHC KA head to work on an L16 (datsun 510) short block? Have you actually done the KA head to L and Z block swaps and had one running yet?

i hope when you say z your not refering to l28 or others in the z family l24? those are 6 CYL!!!!

Im not 100% sure on the l16, I know this can be done on l18,l20 blocks. With l series a plug has to be inserted in block, very simple.

two main issues with ka24de head on l, or z series block

1. upper cover/lower timing chain covers have to be modified to fit together, this is really very simple considering the benefit of head swap. you will have to use the timing cover for the block and de upper cover.

2. lower timing gear issue. the ka24de/e use a lower gear with less teeth than the l, z series. You cannot swap them because the older engines use larger crank snout diameter. You can remedy this by getting your own custom gear made, modifying yours, or turning down the crank snout (which involves other necessary modifications).

the fwd and truck ka24de do not use a front cover mounted distibutor, these heads are the best candidates for the swap imho. you would run a crank driven distributor.

from what ive seen the z timing chain guides work better with the dohc setup, remember you will need a shorter timing chain if using anything other than a tall ht. block (z24,ka24)



edit. yes i mean z series engines z20, z22, z24. z cars use l series engines.

well i havent fired mine yet as it is long from finished, and i need invest another grand in it. I build nissan/toyota engines for a living, trust me it will run very well. I am not the first to do this type of swap.
