Oh, haha! no you don't need hood pins. It has a hood latch, and there isn't anything wrong with using it on a daily, it's just his personal preference.

Disagree. The hood latch will crack over time due to stress. Unless you want your cf hood to pop up at 70mph get hood pins.

I don't know what manufacturer has those issues, but I've rocked a seibon hood on my coupe before and never had any issues like the one you've described. So no, you don't "need" them, but it's a nice security. And I'm not looking for any trades at the moment unless it's for a ka24de.

You were lucky. And I'm sure there are others who have been lucky so far. However, there are those who weren't so lucky. I don't want to be one of those people. Personally, I wouldn't trust a light weight hood that could flap up at 70mph because of the latch giving out unless I had hood pins because it HAS happened, but that's just me.
