What to look for?

Whats up guys my name is jordan. Anyways im looking into getting a 240 and hopefully you guys can help. Right now I drive a 2004 wrx wagon with some work done setup for grip driving. Im selling it and i want to buy a 240 and build it into a drift car. Ill be using all powered by max parts since their shop is about 5 miles from my house. So here come the questions. Are there any years that are better for a drift car than others? What engine and trans combo would be the easiest to start with? And what should i avoid when looking at cars. Im probably gonna do an rb25 swap down the road but i want something that will still be fun in the meantime. Are there any years that are better for a drift car than others?
S13's are cheaper, lighter, more parts available to replace when something breaks or gets damaged when you're on track.

A coupe is more rigid than a hatch, a little harder to find though.


What engine and trans combo would be the easiest to start with?
Either stock ka with bolt on's, suspension and a good diff. Use smaller wheels (15's) tires are cheaper.

Or swap an sr, it's not original, but it's fun and easy to do, a lot faster than ka in my opinion, engine revs more easily.

And what should i avoid when looking at cars?
Watch out for rust buckets, don't try to take on people's half finished (non running) projects if you are not familiar with these cars

SR swap and done, you can sell the sr if you need to fund the rb
