Recently I got a Fiber Images cf hood and I went to install it today. I slanted the hood with stacked washers (about 7 washers). Anyone have problems with getting the hood to latch down on the stock hood lock? It looks like the latch on the hood is a little too thin and the hood is too light, it doesn't want to go down far enough to lock. I have seperate hood locks already, but it's annoying me that I can't get the hood to lock down with stock latch. Just wanted to see other people's experience with this hood. I'm gonna try and take off the washers tomorrow to see if that's causing the problem (possible because of the slant) but has anyone else run in to this problem?
Please no sarcastic remarks about how I should have got a JDM hood or something to that matter and how I should have spent the money elsewhere. I'd appreciate your guy's info.

I had this issue with a import fan hood when trying the same thing with the washers. Once I removed them, the latch and lock mounted fine where before, it would not quite strike. Yeah, it does feel kinda light and like it will fly away. I dont trust those hood pins very much

Did you ever try mounting them again with the washers? I'm gonna take out 3 washers and check the fitment, but it sucks this latch seems a little short compared to the stock design.
By the way, zero.counter, I may have buyer for the exhaust as he's coming to pick it up possibly on saturday, but I'll let you know if it falls through.

That's cool, if not...everything happens for a reason.
No, I did not try re-mounting. I just took all 4 washers out from the two mounts and it lined up fine.

I have the same hood and had the same problem. I look a the factory manual and it says to losen the bolts holding the latch on and ajust it. I slid mine up half and inch and it's fine now. you don't want to force it down or the resin will start to crack.

I have a Fiberimages hood on my s14 and I had the same problems. Adjusting the bolts so you can raise the latch will help. Also you can adjust the rubber stoppers that set the front hood height. Twist them deeper so they won't block the descent of the hood as much. My hood is wierd, I have to reach in and pull up on the hood release lever BEFORE I pull the hood release that in the car. I've had the hood for almost a year now and I've sometimes reached speeds of 100 mph with no hood pins yet, and the hood doesn't budge. Sure it flexes and vibrates but it won't come loose of the darn hood latch. I've checked the attaching quality of the hood hook and it looks pretty stable. I'm still goona get hood pins for that extra security and looks but I've never had a problem with the hood FLYING OFF or anything and I commute 400+ miles regularly at 80mph average.
Fiberimages makes good hoods, and no it's not grounds to flame you for buying one, smart buy for the price if you ask me.
Good luck!
