ok so after a short drift session i was driving down the road then i heard an ungodly sound what i thought was a rod knock. i pull over an pop the hood. the coil broke the plastic mount that screws it down and blew out breaking the center cover too. crazy amount of force. on inspection the coil seemed to have melted. there was also some oil an coolant on the ground but nevermind that.
whats the deal with this coil? any one ever see this happen? is there some sort of compression problem that caused this or whats going on here?:naw:

is your spark plug still in there?
Never seen one explode by itself.

spark plug was loose and not sealing the combustion chamber melted coil. Coil melted and sealed in tube then blew out from 150 ps1 compression. That is what i see.

Fuck, I've never seen that shit happen before...you'd probably have to pull the head off to get that damn plug off. Last thing you want is get debris into the combustion chamber.

actually the plug is MIA. it totally blew out of the head. i assume it is on the road some where.

which trumps the loose spark plug theory. loose threads wouldve caused a leak. not a spontaneous, dramatic increase of pressure.
are the spark plug threads damaged? or did it come out clean..
did you accidentally put thermite in your gas tank?

I've seen this happen a few times before. Not sure as to what lead up to it but both times the customer needed a helicoil since the threads were toast.

no i didnt use any thermite lol.
just from looking the threads look undamaged. i havnt tried to put a new plug in yet cause im waiting for the new coil to arrive. i almost feel like it was sabotage......
