Hey guys, having an issue with one of my lights (passenger side), friend got a ticket driving my 240 so need to have it fixed. So pretty much the headlight itself is fine, my friend switched them around and passenger side still doesn't work. Then he opened the fuse box and switched "15"s around - no difference, passenger side still doesn't work. I'm thinking it's wires?? Had a shop (Firestone) check it out, they said the light and wires are fine and I should take it to the electrical shop. Just checked out one shop they said $125/hour to check it out (and might take more than 1 hour obviously), I was wondering if anyone had similar issue and can point me in the right direction. Or recommend a good and not expensive place near San Francisco where it can be fixed I would really appreciate it. The car is 1992 240SX Coupe base 63k miles and no modifications under the hood. Thanks.

If you want to just get the ticket signed off, I would remove the fuse for that assembly and run a wire for power and ground from the working assembly to that one. It's kind of ghetto but it will work. Don't splice it into the existing wire, attach it directly to a harness that goes straight to the lamp otherwise if you have a short somewhere it may cause more problems.
What part of the bay are you in? Most shops will charge the same amount btw. I had a problem like yours where my gauge cluster lights, headlights and my tail lights would just go out with the fuse popping. I know there's a short somewhere, but I couldn't find it, so rather than pay a lot, I ran new wires and haven't had a problem since.

Oh this I bet is the contacts in the switch assembly on the steering column. Take it apart and take sand paper to the contacts. Should fixed it and it takes like 45 mind to do.

Thanks guys, I'll see what I can do when I have time, probably gonna have to ask my friend to help me with this again. Also, forgot to add, sometimes the light does work but most of the time it doesnt. And high beam always works on broken side. I don't know if this little info helps.

Will this also work if my right headlamp stays on even when my car is off. Only way i can get it to cut off is to unplug it from the socket or disconnect the battery.

is there a relay or a set of switches that connect the lights to the battery? my right headlight stopped working and relocated the battery to the hatch when i was turboing my single slam now both lights dont work? i checked the fuses and cleaned the switch in the steering collum and still no luck
