View Full Version : Is my SR power normal?

Got my car on a dynapack today and I pulled approx. 180rwhp and 175rwtq. The SR is pretty tame as of right now. I have a S13 SR20DET with a Blitz DP, Catco hi-flo, 2.5 cat back piping to Greddy fart can, K&N cole filter, and a Veilside tuned ECU. The A/F graphs were in the mid to lean range and the car holds about 8-9psi. I also have a stock side mount. The shop owner/tuner said that the reason it wasn't putting out more was the unstable boost. My boost curve looked like crap, it was jumping from 7-9psi constantly especially in the lower rev range. He expected a quality EBC to improve power up to 30hp, I don't know if I believe this but the guy seemed pretty knowledgable. The jap-tuned ECU was also cutting timing from 3500-4500 on some of the runs due to the fact that it's been tuned for japanese fuel. This caused some incosistency in the torque graphs. Are these average numbers for my setup? Also would getting a front mount put me past the 200rwhp mark w/o an EBC or more boost? Any info/insights are appreciated. I'll try to get a pic of the graphs up soon.

I would say your numbers looks pretty good. SCC got 195hp and 205lb-ft at 12psi on their with a sidemount IC. They most likely dynoed on a Dynojet, so there may be differences.

I asked the shop owner/tuner how much of a difference they see between his dynapack and a dynojet and he said 3-5% At this level that's approx. 6hp.

You should put the stock ecu back, unless you don't have one. Do you know what parameters your current ECU is tunned for?

The car is running perfect with the tuned ECU. It's tuned for an atmospheric BOV and a stock engine. It also has a speed cut and I'm sure the rev limiter has been changed. I was told the ECU is keeping the boost higher than stock and I supopose it is possible since I do have the wastgate control solenoid hooked up, but I really can't be sure. Why should I switch to the stock one? If I had a stock SR20DET ECU lying around I could do it just to see the differences I suppose, but I don't.
