View Full Version : Is it the system or has a mod gone wild? Something is wrong.

Ok I went to my for sale thread today. I had started a new thread and bumped it once. The previous thread for the item had already been bumped twice.
Hence me starting a new thread.

Well it seems Racer2x had combined both threads and put that I had bumped it more than twice and locked it up.
WTF I am following the rules not bumping a thread more than twice and making a new one and he is combining them just to shut them down. Now if this is actually a forum software glitch problem than I take back my accusation.

But in talking to another person I found out he had done the same thing to him a few weeks ago.

Now we try to follow the rules and get penalized for it. That is just not right.

I think the two bump limit either needs to be changed or this mod possibly needs to reined in for over zealousness.

the idea is to bump a thread 3 times, wait 3 days and start a new thread. Not start a bunch of threads to try and beat the system.

Ya I was not staring a bunch of threads to beat the system. I like how you just assume that. Oh and you do not even realize its a TWO BUMP RULE Not 3!

Oh and there is no rule about waiting three days before posting again if you did not sell it. The only rule is 2 bump limit. Perhaps you should read the rules before making your comments.

I started a new thread when the item did not sell in the old thread after 2 bumps. There is no rule saying you cannot do that or should not do that.

I usually do this, but ask them to lock the old thread so I don't get my thread closed for overpost.

REMINDER:

2 BUMPS PERIOD! This is not PER DAY! Bump more than twice and it is locked.

This includes:
"pms replied to"
"bump"
"ttt"
"all questions answered" ect.....

If you aren't reading the rules you're asking for your thread to be locked. Do not get your buddies to bump it for you either, again it will be locked.
If you thread is locked for excessive bumping, you may re-post in 3 days with new pricing. Like the site owner has stated, if you have to keep bumping, then you need to re-evaluate your pricing.

Every thread i see that gets locked says you can post a new thread for the same item in 3 days.

Thread Bumping

You may only bump your thread TWICE. That is not 2 times a day, or two times a week. TWICE only.

A bump is constituted as any unnecessary post you make in your sale thread. This can include:
“Bump”
“To the top”
“All Pms Responded to”
“Price Drop”
Etc, etc, etc

You should utilize the PM system to answer potential buyer's questions, and you can edit your initial post to reflect any detail updates, or price changes.

The only reason you would have to wait 3 days is because a mod has locked it. If it has NOT been locked by a mod then you should be able to post again right away since the rules above do not state that you would have to wait 3 days. However, personally for me to play it safe, if I have passed the 2 bump rule, I will wait 3 days to start a new thread.

Same here, because the old one will get locked eventually. The mods arent on here 24/7.

this is the one thing i dont agree with. If you are answering a question it should not count as a bump. Your answer could be information that other potential buyers may also want to know.

The bumping rules on the site are fucking garbage... Someone here needs to take some damn notes from nasioc.com, one of the biggest car forums on the net and you can bump a thread as many times as you'd like. Sellers over there are respectful/considerate, you don't see bumps every other 5 minutes just so their thread stays on top.

you realize you're dealing with the 240 community, right? a lot of the people are young dipshit broke kids who will do anything to make a buck; including 5 minute thread bumps.

You make a very valid point..haha I've seen the lowest of the lowballers on this site without a doubt. I could see that getting out of control so I guess a limit of some sort is necessary.

I still think the rules should be revised to allow more than 2 bumps..:wiggle:
