I just installed this motor because my old KA blew. It's making this noise and i was wondering if any of you guys knew what exactly it was. The sputtering is from the distributor being mis-timed. It's a little off.

My car has been doing the same deal. Mine wasn't quite as viscious but seemed to get worse the more i drove it. My buddy who is very good with 240's said it was a pilot bushing. So we replaced and found that the flywheel bolts my buddy said he tightened when we changed the clutch were only finger tight and backing out. Which were hitting my clutch. Put it all back together and everything was gravy......for 2 days. Then it started back up tonight. I have no clue what it is that's doing this. But i did figure out that when idling if i put the clutch in it goes away(which makes sense if it's in the tranny).

Holy shit man!! Don't even bother starting it again that thing is knocking like a SOB. No way that is from flywheel bolts or pressure plate bolts.
You need a new bottom end.
