so Im buying a KA24E for a project, and I want to
ditch the EFI and use yamaha R1 carbs.
I dont know much about bike carbs, but I have read that
you can use them to produce around 250whp from a KA24E.

what kind of performance could I expect from a KA24E with 44mm R1 carbs?

if it helps, I would be using Ford EDIS-4 and a cut stock manifold.

thanks!

all depends on tuning and what has been done to the motor (besides carbs). I doubt if you make it past the 170hp mark on a 100% stock long block.

hmm. what do you think was done to these engines to produce over 250 whp with 44's?

cams, headwork, high comp pistons, e85/110 octane, lightweight pullys/flywheel, uhhhh... injectors, no emissions, header, proper exhaust, good tune, coilpacks maybe..

yeah I kinda figured they were race engines, I was just hoping there was a chance I could get that performance without dropping a grand on the engine.
thanks!

go turbo ...... all motor ka24e or ka24de is a big waste of money... everyone at first goes that route then wants more power and then ends up going turbo anyways. Save yourself the trouble and go turbo. But if your not looking to spend a lot then your shit out of luck. Gotta pay to play.

Those 250whp motors are 24hr motors. 13:1 and crazy cam and headwork.

I wouldn't even bother with a ka-t, but that's just me. We have a weekly meet in Tualatin every thurs. night -- show up and learn some things :).
