View Full Version : nothing works on my car..need help ASApP

o heres my problem i was conecting my positive wire on my alternator and while i was doing that ti toushed my block and sparked so i didnt think anything of it so i started up my car and only my headlights work...nothing else my taillights stereo and EVERYTHING seatbelts blinkers gauges tach spedo...nothing works...i checked all my fuses in my car and everything is good i checked under my hood too all the fuses.except my realys...so i dont know what else to check...my alternator is good and so is my battery...anyone know what could be wrong????? 1990 240 hb

did you check the main engine fuses? you can't tell if they're blown or not just by looking at them. You can either test them with a multimeter, or pull a bunch of them off a junk 240. Also check your ASCD box, you may have fried that as well. There are also two big fuses tucked right be the passenger side strut tower, you want to check those too because they are inline before the ASCD box. Next time, disconnect your battery before doing ANYTHING electrical. You're lucky that's all that happened and you didn't knock yourself out.

12v power isnt that intense, ive been zapped quite a few times, not enough to knock you on your ass.

I did the same thing. It was my alternator fuse. simple fix but it is a nissan only part that cost me $20

Haha, now that's funny, "12v power isnt that intense." Did you happen to look at how many AMPS your battery is able to discharge? If it wasn't that intense, they wouldn't being using it to make DIYS welders. Beside it only takes a few mA to kill.

I had the same dam problem with my car but it didn't happen untill I started driving my car after the SR Swap. Occasionally it will just turn back on for no reason also. I think I have a wireing probleme though.
