80 cars will be divided in 6 groups each grip group or drift group will drive on either west or east section of Thunderhill. East section is apprx. 2 mi. and West is at least 1.5 mi. Drift guys will do a flagged start so you figure there is only 15-20cars on the track at a time for a 30 min. session so it will not be crowed.

yeees, finally! awsome news, I might sign up ;). But is there any hidden fees? for ambulance? tires? gas? dot helmet? etc, etc?

EDIT: almost forgot to ask, but how long is the event? all day? 9 to 5? or do we only get 30min of track time total?

Krazy Bunta
12-03-2003, 01:08 AM
This is an ALL DAY event.

All fees are covered in your entry, you will be responsible for your own tires and helmet.

Please check www.ncda.net often for updates. A schedule will be posted shortly.

Just one question. Are spectators going to be allowed. My cousins want to ride up there with me to watch the event. Is that okay, or is there no spectators allowed.

I'm gonna try to be there, sounds like fun. Hopefully I can talk my brother on going too.

Jonathan, David, are you guys planing on going to this one, if so we can had out from my house. Caravan from San Jose.

Is anyone else going from that San Jose area that wants to Caravan, let me know. Yeah I know it's a bit early but better to plan it out early than late.

Hey Noah. Did you get the same rims as scott?

knghtryde
12-04-2003, 09:22 AM
Jonathan,

Go ahead and keep those rims you got from my house. Learn to drift on those. It will be harder cause the traction is better but those tires are cheaper to replace than those 17s. Just throw those on the back and learn on them when you go out there. I have plenty of spear tires any ways. I have about 4 or 5 sets of 4 lugs.

Anyone have a Pair of 5 lug rims they wanna part with. My bro has a 5 lug setup and needs spear wheels to enter into the events.

just a word of warning, thunderhill isn't a very good track to spectate at. You won't see much of the action so unless you think it's worth driving for a few hours and wasting a lot of gas just to be able to see a few turns, don't bother.

Regarding Spectators.

This event will be VERY spectator friendly. The skidpad, as well as several turns will be HIGHLY visible. There's going to be several demonstrations, and even a motorcycle show during lunch!

Spectators may even get some special offers during the course of the day. (Details to be announce at a later date.)

Long story short, we will try our best to make it worth your while. There is no entry fee for spectators, and the event should also be quite a show!

Hi guys, thanks for your inquiries!

Grip driving is fine during any Drift session, should you choose to do that once in a while.

But, Grip sessions will be strictly for hot lapping, any drifting will be frowned upon, and flaggers will be standing by to let you know.

Check-in begins at 6:30am, with a mandatory drivers meeting at 7:30am. Spectators are welcome to come at anytime, this will be an all day event from dawn till dusk, approx 5pm. There will be a lunch time motorcycle stunt show, so get there early! Like I mentioned earlier, there may be some spectator specials during the day as well, details to be released at a later date.

Thanks!

Krazy Bunta

YES! Thunderhill park has helmets available for rent, and if you have a friend running in a different group, helmet sharing is fine as well.

Tech inspections are going to be held that morning.

Just wondering....if you are in the beginner or intermediate groups, are you limited to the skid pad and j-turns only? Or will we have a chance to attempt 3rd gear drifts?

Krazy Bunta
12-17-2003, 11:01 PM
Yes, beginner groups will have just as much on track, track time as any other group. The skidpad is just in addition to the real track.

Thanks!

There, I signed up. Now I just have a month to get my car ready. Knowing myself, I probably wait until 2 days bofore and get super stressed out working late, and finishing an hour before I leave.

Hey why can't you run this event anyway?

hahahha.....so true..

cause i dunno if i will have the funds...and i wont know until a week or so into January..(gotta talk to some people)...i'm sure i'll suck it up last minute and be there, as i've always wanted to run at Thunderhill, but we'll have to wait and see..

it's not so much the cost of the event as it is the supplemental costs...

Tires: $100
Missed day of work: $150 (fortunately this event is on a Saturday)
Gas: $50
Food: $15
Misc work to prep car: $50

plus cost of event: $100-$150

so it's pretty easily over $400 for one track day...

damn these addictions!!

Well anyone. I'll see everyone there.
