If I was in your shoes and didn't know a whole lot about the sport, I would continue to save my money and do a shit ton of research. That way you can build the car right, not cut any corners, or use cheap shit. Research goes a long way man, especially on here.
$300 isn't going to get you far at all, and i'd advise getting a job if you don't have one. If anything use that money towards any maintenance the car needs at the moment( fresh tune up, etc).

I would do some maintenance.
That's about all 300 would get you.
Unless you've already did maintenance, than just get a welded diff and a s14 driver's seat.

weld your diff and start sliding. Done. When something breaks then you'll exactly how much you need for a drift car!

What you need to drift:
-Welded diff is like $100 new, $50ish if you look around.
-2 extra wheels and tires, ~$100
Then get a bucket seat and a steering wheel if you have enough left over. Think cheap stuff: used or knock-off.
Congrats, you have a drift car. Everything else is extra.
Be patiant, save as much as you can and buy parts little by little. Drifting isn't going any where so it will still be there when you get your car ready to go.

Fat guy bends fake Nardi steering wheel! - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMxB4RpCDzA)
Builders on a super budget don't buy new, name brand stuff. Buy used if you can, or knockoff if you must. Half this damn forum has some kind of knockoff part on their car.
If you buy used - what I said above is accurate (add that drift knob though). If you buy a knockoff wheel - just to make that asshole happy, try to bend before you buy it.
PROBLEM SOLVED.

Do research and don't start stupid threads without reading.
