Is he a dealer? If not he is kinda asking for a lot based on the miles on it, even though these are a rare specie. I would prefer $7000 for it.

I say offer him $8k for it, last time I checked in the Bay Area there wasn't a single 97-98 around. You could always pick up a zenki and do the conversion...

HOLY SHIT! It doesnt just have sound, it has PREMIUM SOUND! Thats fuckin incredible!
If you ask me, I think this thread is useless without pics. Why? Because if the car was SMASHED and REPAIRED, then the last thing I would be looking at is the moon roof, dark teal color, or the premium sound.

If you want it that bad, buy it. '98s are rare...took me months to find mine so when I found it I paid a grip for it and I flew out of state to get it. All depends on how bad you want that shit.

From the pix it looks great. Very clean. The deck looks pretty premium! It lives up to its claims!:p

where i am that's extremely cheap for a '98... nowadays even '93s with 100k+ are going for $3.5k. 95-96 easily go up to $6k. '97=7-8k and i've only seen a '98 once... originally asking for $9k sold at $12k (60,000 miles).
get a carfax done. do all the regular checks. for 8.5k i would take it. 5spd 98s are extremely rare... bargain for it if u want but don't miss out on that car!

Rock chips in all the right places is a good indication, shows that the car has been driven.. but that could also mean its had the front end painted (OEM paint chips less than aftermarket, so keep that in mind). The pics look good, the price sounds good, but INSPECT the car in great detail if you're into knowing what you are buying. You can also run a carfax, that doesnt hurt. Whats more important than all of that is not a silly carfax report, but a good eye to overlook the car.
Good luck,
- Mike

make sure ur safe in buying it.. inspect everything. much of the advice on this thread is highly reccomended. id offer 7500 for mileage, play with the price a lil, but dont go over 8000 unless ur totally willing to overpay.

what's up with all the dents around the gas door? i'd say more like 7-7.5k on this one.

c'mon dood, why are you asking? :P

Prices vary by region. And hell, 240s really are much cheaper than they're worth. . . If I ever come to sell mine, I definitely wouldn't go real cheap. Only way to raise the value of a car is to overcharge for it I says :-)

last times i blue booked my 97 with 28k miles it was around 13000, that was about 6 months ago, Seems like a very fair price. 97 and 98 are going to get rarer and rarer, there was only 5000 something imported to the states if i remeber correctly, half have probably been wrecked. doesnt leave many non wrecked ones left. You would hate to not buy and and be kicking yourself in the ass later over say 500 bucks or something. also, if u do do a conversion one, its never going to really increase the rarity of the car, still a 95 or 96, just my .02

Get the car....all the options I've quoted above are hard to find in one car (98 that is). But do bargain a tad bit.....8k is the most I would pay for THAT car.

It's an hour away from me...but the thing is the guy wants a down payment of 850

850 down payment... what's so bad about that? bottom line its a 98, its 5spd, its an se, its got ok mileage and its got a pretty resonable price. if you don't buy it i'm sure someone else will. if someone else is going to overpay, then they will own the car and you will not. if i were u i'd go over there now, check out the mechs, bargain it down to whatever you can and put ur money on the table. i personally would take it even if the price was still at 8.5k. u realize that there is a strong possibility this is the ONLY 98 5spd you will ever see for sale anywhere remotely near you for a very long time. in fact i wouldn't be surprised if you never saw another '98 5spd for sale ever. get it already! lol.

if you really want the car...then buy it...if you think you can find a better deal..then wait.
