I have a rb25det s14 with a blitz sbc id spec r boost controller that has worked fine for the last few months. All the sudden after my car would build over 7-8 psi it would start cuting out real bad. the best way i can explain it is its violently jumpy and my boost graph would show it building then suddenly dropping and jumping back up until i let off the throttle. it does this very quickly and constantly until i let off. I have tracked it down to the boost controller. After i unplugged the hose from the wastegate to the seloniod it would boost as high as i wanted without a problem. Have any of you had a similar problem to this? and if so is there a way to fix it? I hate to of spent all this money on this and only get to use it for a few months. Also i had the same type of controller in my turbo mr2 last year and it always worked great with no issues and i have been searching online and cant find anyone having this issue so it must not be common.
Thanks

No. The technical reason is as follows
A wastegate ( assuming your still using the actuator type) works based on the pressure that goes to the wastegate. Based on the spring, it may require so much force (boost) to counteract the tension in the spring and open the flap.
A boost contoller works by letting less boost go to the wastegate than is actually in the system.
In other words, a 7lb wastegate will always open at 7lbs, no matter what ( assuming its in working condition). The boost controller set for 10 lbs will only let a certain amount of air through so that at 10lbs in the system, the wastegate will get 7lbs and begin to open.
That being said, your boost controller cannot create boost, it can only limit it, so there is no way for it to make a functioning wastegate open earlier than the spring is set for.
When you unplugged the hose from the wastegate to the boost controller solenoid, did you hook the wastegate up to a pressure source? If you didnt, you would just be boosting the max that the turbo can put out, which is not something you really want to do.

I did not hook up the wastegate to a pressure source but i only drove it less than a mile down the road and back. I only built up 12-14 psi and let off to see if it could build more than 7 without getting jumpy like it did before. What could be causing the problem if it builds boost without being hooked up but as soon as its plugged in it starts acting up again?

Sounds like it may be your wastegate. run the wastegate directly to the boost source your boost controller is hooked up to, completely bypassing the controller and see what it does.
