I went to Drift Day 10 with my S14. I got there and my gas tank read a little above a quarter tank. So I decided to put in $10.00 worth of gas before heading to the track. After pumping, the gas gauge read a little above 3/4 full.
After making a few hard runs on the track, I noticed my gas gauge was reading full as I made my way back to the pit area. I thought nothing of it and let my car cool down. An hour later, I made a few more runs and afterwards, the gas gauge still read full. Now I become a little worried, I have a heavy right foot and I know I burned up at least a 1/4 tank on the skidpad.
At the end of the day, I decide to go to the gas station again and fill up my tank. This time I decided to fill it all the way up. As I was pumping, the gas pump handle stopped at 7 gallons of gas sold. I thought that this would correct the problem and the fuel pump sensor (floating thingie inside the tank) would get straight and start to function properly again. I drove all the way home and still the gas gauge read full. I drove all day today and still the gas gauge is reading full.
Now I don't know what to do. My friend said that the fuel pump sensor thing might still be stuck. So tomorrow morning, I will have to open up the trunk and remove the plate covering the fuel pump inside the gas tank. I'm not sure what to look for, so if anyone here has any experience with something similiar to what I'm going through, your input will be greatly appreciated.
