It looks like it says AiResearch on it? Maybe a T3 style of some sort? It has a good wastegate design!

nope....its a KKK or IHI turbo.. i know i have seen that before. the exhaust is T3 but the compressor is either KKK or IHI..i cant remember.

What does it say on the front? Measure the turbine inlet also, far as how wide it is and how tall it is.

Its from a Ford 2.3 liter 8V turbo motor found in the Merker XR4Ti, old SVO Mustang and I think the Thunderbird.

Nope its not off of a T-bird either! Unless you unbolted the turbine housing and rotated it, which by the looks of it....i would say no. Measure the inlet of the turbing to tell what size T3 flange you have then you can call AiResearch or Garett basically in cahoots with eachother. They will be able to tell you which vehicle it came off of. Basically its a T3 of somesort doesnt really matter where it came from!

Also it appears to be of good design, T3 flange, seperate wastegate port, and watercooled. All things people should want in a nice junkyard turbo nab, so GOOD LUCK man!

u guys say measure the turbine inlet....in wat...inchs, centimeter, ect?.....and look at the design of the exhaust side of the turbine...why is it different from other turbines?....wat part would be needed to fit that piece to connect down to the downpipe...thx alot again for ur help guys...

why would you buy a turbo that you don't know anything about like most importantly size?;)

looks to me like a saab or volvo T3 setup, but they're all basically the same between the saab/ford/volvo factory T3's, just a bit different housings and slightly different a/r's.

well i bought it becuase it was at a VERY good price from a friend...and a turbine is a turbine either way you know...i ask questions to find answers an if thats wrong then MY BADDD...but from the looks of things.......answers are coming my way and proving me wit more information than i knew from before so keep them coming and ill measure the inlet wen i get home and let u guys know wat size it is...

I dont think its a saab either, Saabs mostly had KKK turbochargers. Could be from a very early Volvo they had this inlet design but on the later ones they had a throat on the inlet.

Yes measure it in inches

That wwasgate is better because it doesnt directly interfere with the exhaust flow exiting the turbine, unlike youre traditional internally regulated turbocharger.

To make a downpipe, first youre going to need a flange and the best way to do that is probably trace the design of the exhaust housing. Transfer your traced piece to some flat stock steel and cut it out if you wish but I would prefer to spend the extra cash and have one machined for like $30. I am sure there is a local college more than willing to do it that has a machining program.

Get some appropriately sized stainless U-bends and take it to a good exhaust shop they should be able to hook you up.

Good Luck!

i know its not from a merkur and not from any late 80s volvo

but i do know this...its a turbo, its T3, and its bigger then a T25 and will flow better then a T25 or dsm turbo.

Most definatly a t3 turbo. As far as exact specs, you need to remove the housings and measure the inducer/exducer sizes, as well as the housings (unless a number like .48 is stamped on it).
Now my 2 questions:
1) Are you using a camera phone? If so, I'd borrow or use a real digital camera next time you need info that can only be gathered through detailed pics.
2) Itsn't it harder to type " wat u want. wen i am wit da boyz." than to type in english?

Isnt a Merkur XR4ti the same as a T-bird? Couldve sworn they were, couldve been on a volvo....there was a specific year of VOLV whos head bolts onto the the 2.3 LOL
