View Full Version : Upgraded RUCAS and rear traction rods and now the rear end is SUPER unpredictable?!

Is the rear end supposed to bounce around like this over uneven surfaces?

Sometimes when I switch lanes the rear end acts like it wants to go another way. It has a mind of it's own! It's scary as fuck just going the speed limit when this happens. Almost like I have 4 wheel steering or something. This can't possibly be how it's supposed to work after changing these, if it is then I'm going to have to take them off asap. If I'm driving down a shitty road it will usually feel fine but some random odd bump or line in the road will cause the rear end to feel like I might spin out just driving straight at 40mph

I know I need an alignment, I needed one before I even installed the stuff. But this is bizarre. Could it be because I didn't replace the eccentric bolts on the camber stuff back to how it was when I took it off? I tried to as best I could but might not have put them exactly as they were.

You've answered your own questions.

Whats REALLY scary is there are people like you with cars of their own mind running around waiting to kill somebody else driving at the speed limit.

If you know you need an alignment, PLEASE go get one and proceed to sell your car to someone who can take better care of it and reduce the probability of killing other people.

God whata horrible forum full of information and know it all children. I'm simply trying to ask if the parts did this or something is fucked up with my car. It was fine before installing these, which I thought would just stiffen everything up not make it feel like I'm riding on pillows.

Thank you at least for confirming that I really screwed up my alignment now and need to get it done asap. Try helping more instead of acting like no one should mod a car but you.

Did you forget to install the rear sway bar? Cause that's what it sounds like...

Either way, get an alignment and have them look at everything to make sure everything is tight and you aren't missing anything.

For your information I was on my way to a friends place a half hour away and as soon as I felt this I turned around and brought the car home because its not safe driving like this. As if I'm even close to dangerous driving considering all the cars out there people are driving around. Fucking please. This is such a great forum its a shame its filled with immature people that would rather blurt out their arrogant opinions then help a follow 240 owner.

Here you go so you dont have to waste your time posting again: I'ma crybaby, I'm a moron, I shouldnt own a 240, I shouldnt own a car, I probably shouldnt even live. Satisfied?

Sway bar is installed fine. Getting an alignment on the car tomorrow.

Thank you to those who are actually helpful and not sitting at home playing forum warrior on a Saturday night.

did you put camber on the rears yourself? when you adjust the camber with the RUCA's it'll give you uneven toe which is why you also need adjustable toe arms if you're going to have camber in the rear.

hope you upgraded the toe arms too, or else you won't be able to get full adjustment out of the ruca...

No, it's a shame it's partially filled with people who don't bother thinking before they do something. (or searching for information)
You wanted to upgrade your car, yet you didn't know what the reason for those upgrades were, nor what to do after upgrading. If you wanted it to be more stiff, you should have upgraded the bushings.
Next time you want to upgrade, stop, take a moment to research what the items do when putting them on and what you should expect from them.
The first thing you should expect to do when upgrading any of your suspension, is an alignment.

Btw, the rear sway bar would have nothing to do with it bouncing as bad as he explained. I haven't had a rear sway bar on either s-chassis I've owned, and neither of them do this. It's all the alignment. Which is obvious considering he said it was fine before installing the new links.

Funny how these peeps "just had" to say/post something to keep the fire alive to continue to flame on, was it really necessary for all you to squeeze in your 2 cents??? I think the OP got the point! :wtf:

Its a hundred percent this. Not a rear sway bar or any of you guys' dumb suggestions. just tell the kid whats wrong and leave.

its the stupid excess toe because you probably just didnt or tried to match the new arms to the old length but failed like i did too. just go get an alignment.

Also why ruca/traction and not toe?
