I just purchased a 1991 240 sx with the 3 by two open rear diff. I've read so many articles regarding lsd swaps in these cars yet, I somehow manage to not get what I need to do. I purchased a z32 lsd today, it has the 6 bolt flange on it, my car has the 3 by two. I looked at the J30 pre 95, and unless I'm searching incorrectly, the ones I see have a five bolt design. My question is, what output shafts do I need to get in order to mount up to my existing axles, and, (I haven't taken a good look yet) do I need to do anything to the input shaft to accept my current driveshaft? Some more information that may be useful, my car does NOT have abs. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have used the search button.

Thanks in advance to and responses.

The easiest way out of this for you is to buy some 5 bolt axles to use with the Z32 VLSD.

If you insist on keeping the 6 bolt setup you will have to swap in the Z32 VLSD into your s13 pumpkin with the 4.08 ring gear, and find some S14 JDM 6 bolt output shafts. The 6 bolt shafts for the J30 will not work with the Z32 VLSD. I pulled a 6 bolt VLSD from a 1997 J30 at the junkyard and its output shafts would not fit into the S14 JDM VLSD I have.

So unless you can find someone selling S14 JDM VLSD 6 bolt output shafts, you are pretty much stuck with a 5 bolt setup IF you want to use the Z32 VLSD.

edit: S14 USDM VLSD 6 bolt output shafts should also work although I cannot confirm.
