Seeing as I seem to be spending more and more time on here I thought I throw my build up....
I swapped my old s13 for this pretty tatty s14 about 9-10 months back and got busy with from day 1

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/23112010204.jpg
Oh yer Rota's and 4x4.
Sold the wheels, bought a Supermade kit, D-max wing and got my Vienna's out of storage:
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/03022011361.jpg
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/09022011371.jpg
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110521-00007.jpg
Fitted a few bits inside
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/08022011369.jpg
R32 brakes went on but I had to use 15mm spacers to clear
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/28022011398.jpg
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/marcscar.jpg
Went to a friends garage to weld up the badge holes in the hood, ariel, stock wing holes and third brake light
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110809-00178.jpg
As much as I wanted to keep stock metal I had to use rear overs to cover up the nasty dent/deep scrape so I bought Rocket bunny +30's to try and keep them as subtle as possible
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110707-00105.jpg
I also ended up buying the front ones after wrecking some JDM ones (UK have side repeaters in)
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110804-00158.jpg
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110805-00162.jpg
I'm not really happy with them to be honest because they're just not smooth/clean enough but at least I can just paint them up and use stock ones later on
Fitted PSM rod's and Driftworks tension arm
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/27032011439.jpg
Put Driftworks RUCA and toe arms on
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110709-00119.jpg
Fitted 56mm rad, removed the A/C and had a general tidy up in the bay
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110611-00058.jpg
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110611-00060.jpg
The rad pushed the cold start too close to the viscous fan so I though I'd cut it off and have it welded on further back along with having the BOV take off blanked. Replaced all the IC clamps for S/S Jubilee clips while I was there too
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110709-00111.jpg
Replaced the VVT as that was nasty too
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110730-00151.jpg
Got some Recaro SPG's for a good price
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110915-00212.jpg
And thats pretty much where I'm at now, I've been waiting to paint the car for over 2 months but finally have a place sorted for the end of the month to get it done. I have all the paint ready to roll, RX8 sparkling mica black:
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20110606-00044.jpg
Untill that goes on it's sat looking like this

so you're only using one rear over on the car just to cover up the dent?
or do you not have a pic with both on? lol :keke:

You're right, you caught me, I;ve only got one wide arch
ORRRrrr it could be that I haven't got round to fitting them on properly yet so the only pics they're in are mock ups and they're both sat on my pool table.

why are u quoting me? im aware u have two. i was talking to the other guy who was joking about u only having one, because in your above pics, u only have it test fitted/mocked up on the passenger side.
what a waste of my 1000th post.

color is pretty cool, almost has a brownish/gold tint to it. got a rx8 in at my work in that color before i quit and i really like it.
Not much of a build so far, but not bad.
I do have a question though. Why would you get over quarters to cover one dent when you could easily get it fixed?
Also, the spot on the door that's primed... if it's hard lined the way it looks in the pic, you're going to see the outline after it's painted. May want to work it a little more if it is hard lined.
Have fun.

I've done a bit more than whats pictured here but thought I'd post the more interesting pics. I'll post up a spec list later.
The dent really wasn't going to be an easy fix, it's pretty nasty with a deep scrape at the bottom. Believe me overs was the best option.
As for the primer... rookie error to be honest, this is the 1st thing I've painted so every step is a learning curve. I have flatted the edges back and will feather it in better when the time comes.

I'm selling the D-max spoiler and was going to keep a smooth boot and just have an Origin roof wing but I think the lip actually goes well with the kit so I might keep that on.
Also bought a half cage, Nismo 2way (4.1), ORC single clutch and most importantly a jack low enough to get under the crap box.

Thanks man, your's is looking mighty fine too.
I had to collect the hood and fenders today so I can drive the car down to the garage this week to cut the rear fenders up. Bear in mind the paint still needs to be polished but it looks awesome, so much deeper in real life though

I'm still not happy with the wings but they're on for now, I'll drop you a pm if/when I get fed up with them.

Colour is on the 1st page but I'll spoon feed just for you: Mazda sparkling mica black.
Today I put the last few parts back on, mirrors, skirts, rear fenders and bumper

Unfortunatly there was a slight hicup with the boot so that will be ready tomorow, once thats on she's coming home.
I'm pretty chuffed with how the fenders dont seem to stand out too much, the rear doesn't even seem to have overs on untill your right next to it.

Been busy getting the rusty old subframe off today
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20111023-00087.jpg
But victory often comes at a price:
L-shape braket bolt, at least it was the bolt not the captive nut.
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20111023-00084.jpg
any guesses to where this is from:

well:

take the forrest wang approach,....and just fuckin weld it in there....lol
if you ever need to remove the subframe again,...chances are u totaled the car...lol

Been a while since I updated this, to be fair not a great deal's happened since the last post because I've been waiting for my brake lines to show up. Anyway:
Sorted the subframe peg out and got the new subframe on
http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/n555/JunctionTwelve/IMG-20111106-00140.jpg
Got a shotgun:
http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/n555/JunctionTwelve/IMG-20111101-00125.jpg
Also been busy rust proofing (must do job over here) including the radiator support etc behind the grill so at last you can't see the old red paint from behind
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20111113-00152.jpg
Ignore bumper fittment it's just zip tied on there.
Just spent this weekend fitting full braided brake lines, deleting the ABS in the process
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/s14amarc/IMG-20111119-00161.jpg
In other news the Vienna's are up for sale and new wheels are in the pipe line.
looking good mate, liking the shotgun.
how dd u fix the subframe stud in the end?
MarcD
11-20-2011, 02:50 PM
Thanks man.
I ground the peg into a point along with a bolt and filled the gap with weld if that makes sense.
Big Zee
11-20-2011, 03:35 PM
that looks good, it looks like you cut the peg level and drilled/tapped it to thread the new bolt in. I broke my subframe nut like you did now I have a way to fix it :)
car looks amazing, I want a zenki s14 now with Vienna's. keep up the good work, IMO your not far from having it done looks wise. everything is tastefully done :)
