Just finished a swap and finally got the engine running. Timing was off on the upper timing chain. After I properly timed it, it started. But this is what I get when I start the car and run it. Distributor was set at #1 cylinder while the engine was TDC with the #1 cylinder lobes pointing away from the middle of the engine. Bottom chain was timed properly. New plugs, new wires. There's a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust.. well, the headers since I don't have an exhaust on yet. Smells like a heavy must of burnt gas. There's no color in the smoke, if anything a VERY light hint of blue. I still have to double check the vacuum lines tomorrow. Car revs up to high rpms (can't tell what exactly it is since I need a new tach). Once the rpms drop back down, it sounds like none of the cylinders are firing (hence the "ploop"ing sounds lol), then drops super low and nearly stalls. I can drive ti around the block perfectly fine, but I get back and there is still a good amount of smoke billowing in the engine bay from the headers. I feel like it is running super rich. Also, I have tried taking out the spark plug wires and unplugging the injectors. Each and every single one affected the engine when I pulled them. What could this be????
