If it's gonna be retardedly expensive like the last one, I think I'd rather see a new S2000.
But when Honda does sports cars, they always make something epic, soooo this oughta be good.

However, the ‘new NSX’ will be radically different from its predecessor, with Ito stating that the goal will be to build a car that has a dramatic power-to-weight-ratio as opposed to outright power.
yes, the NSX, with its staggering 270hp, was all about laying down big power.

^270hp back in the early 90's would have been a lot compared to other cars.

yeah 270 NA power in a light midship is pretty badass..and besides japan has the "gentleman" rule where they couldn't make more than 300

compared to dumpster rides like ones this forum focuses on, sure. but the vette of the era had 300hp, fox mustangs and third gen f bodies were in the 250hp/350tq range (and cost WAAAAAAAAY less), the Z32 had 300... my point is, on paper, 270 isn't impressive now, and it wasn't that outstanding then. it's silly to say the first gen NSX was all about "outright power".
would i have sex with an nsx? yes i would. are there better cars for the money? always. corvette, every time.

I hope they dont fail like toyota did when the re-did the supra and made it the lexus LFA with a price tag of $500,000...
Nissan did good with the new gtr however should have kept the r35 with a straight 6 and manual transmission option.
I cant wait to see what the new nsx will be like, they say its gonna be totally different, might as well rebadge it right?

I will agree on the outright power thing. 400? Yes outright power 270 eh it's ok.

Mid engine breh, doesn't matter how many horse trailers your car can pull when you're snagging beezies at the club because they mistake it for a Ferrari.

This IIRC is the 3rd time Honda has confirmed NSX development since the demise of the last NSX.
The NSX and the 240 at least have that in common.

if this is the goal i'd get a mk2 MR2, way higher breezy:cost ratio

sounds good to me. 300 N/A hp + 2700lb chassis would be just about perfect.

Of course that's the goal of owning a car.
As a car geek and lover of all things anti poon I'm all about the MR2 but only the drunkest of slores would mistake one for a Ferrari and if you can't slay the uber trashed ones spending 25 grand on a car from the 90's is the least of your worries.

nobody will say that outright though.
you will hear a lot of excuses of it not being light enough.
that or the typical nostalgic asshole claiming the old NSX (or any POS from the 90's) looked better.
nothing is ever good enough for the typical Zilvia 240sx owner, or so it seems.

I also feel that it's unlikely given Honda's super-conservative (to a fault) direction in the last few years.
If you're not even committed to 30k sports-car, it doesn't seem plausible that you're willing to support something far more expensive.
I can't bring myself to agree with Honda's overall business approach today or in the foreseeable future.
Honda is quickly becoming the most pedestrian auto manufacturer.

While I wouldn't put it past them to do another NSX (especially once there are stronger signs of the economy turning around), I think it's still years (3-5+ years) off of production.
And while Honda has been even more conservative then Toyota over the last 10 years, look what Toyta did with the LFA. Went from literally nothing even sport coupe related to all all super-duper car. So who knows. Honestly I even less faith in Honda then I did Toyota and that is very little at all.

Agree here too. Honda has just missed the mark with every single new entry over the last, say 5 years. While some things have been "good enough", nothing is class leading like some the vehicles they were making in the 90's. And then on top of it you have utter disasters like the CRZ (unfortunately), Crosstour, ZDX, and damn near the entire Acura line-up. If Honda owners weren't so damn loyal they would be hurting very bad. The amount of customers leaving Honda/Acura though or the likes of Hyundai, Kia I guess (from what I've read) it amazing (on Hyundai/ Kia's part).

the company that brought us the Honda Crosstour cannot be trusted to make a new sportscar into reality.

I'll believe it when I see it. When the only "sporty" car in their lineup is the CR-Z (note the usage of air quotes), it is not a promising proposition. I have little faith in Honda these days.
For all we bitch and moan about the lack of a 240 successor, let's just be thankful that Nissan builds the Z, and it is much cheaper than back in the 90's.
