what to use to clean out an s14 fuel tank??

i was suggested degreaser like formula 88. and thought about brake cleaner/carb cleaner. but any specific one? thanks guys

I really don't know any good yet safe solvents off the top of my head. But here's a simple 5 step guide to success that I just made up.


Determine the type of plastic the tank is made of.

Create list of solvents that do not damage that type of plastic.

Determine what kind of crap you're cleaning from the tank.

Pick the best solvent from the list you made in step 2 for dealing with the crap in step 3.

Give it a go, and hope that you didn't get any miss-information that would put your tank in jeopardy.

the lexus dealership i used to work for sends them out to have them cleaned. i don`t know how much though.
