Alright so my motor is having a little bit of some problems right now and cant afford the rb i wanted so im just goin to do the kat. My motor has 150k on it(i know its high;( I need to fix my timing chain problem this weekend because my car has a really bad hesitiation and the shop said it might have skipped a tooth on the timing. so really im looking for some answers on should i just buy a rebuild kit or the parts seperate and should i get a oem rebuild or forged to get ready for the turbo. I will be driving the car N/A for awhile longer till i can afford all the turbo set up so what can i do first to get it ready for the whole switch?

check the cam timing first before you jump into conclusions. the shop said it MIGHT have jumped teeth, but they were not sure, so it could be something else. determine the problem and the cause first before you spend time and money on replacing parts that you might not need. also, if you want to boost high, i definitely suggest forged pistons and metal head gasket and head studs. make sure you spray both sides of the metal head gasket with hylomar. hylomar will prevent coolant and or oil leaks. good luck on your build

I won't be doin any high boost right away just somethin for daily and I do need to rebuild anyways. Is a oem rebuild good for like a t25 set at low boost?

i'd imagine that the OE headgasket would become a failure point in an oem rebuild.
if i were doing an oe rebuild on any engine that would see boost, i would use an mls head gasket at least.

great point, so what size of head gasket do you recommend?

i was looking at a frs arp head studs + cometic head gasket on frsport.com it says that the gasket is 90mm x 0.040", would that work for my N/A motor till i get to turbo on?

i dont know much about the nissan engines, ive been in BMW's and just recently switched to the s chassis so i can afford to play around on the track.

but from past motor builds, im sure the .040" is fine for low boost and any "loss" in compression ratio while running n/a is negligible.

if there is anything i'd reccommend on any motor is a good crank scraper.
on a turbo motor some sort of catch can instead of venting the valve cover breather to the atmosphere.

how much boost would you be running, and what would you be doing for fuel/spark?
im curious to learn what other people run on rebuilt kade's.

well for my set up im goin with first will be a daily drivin set up so i wont be pushin anything to a high limit you know. probably just around the set up as a stock sr. i want to be pushin around 7-10lbs. ive heard of people boosting 10lbs on a stock kade fine. so a rebuilt one 10 will be perfectly safe. im not very familiar with the whole turbo stuff right now, but im learning.
