Hi all, i'm new here. I love your board! I was wondering if you were more into looks or power? I'm sure it has been discussed before but...
BTW i'm an (girl) owner of a '95 240sx LE 5-speed for more than 2 years and i dig this car.... Anyways i'll post some pictures soon...
Guess what i'm into !!! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Performance here first. But then again, I like my cars to be sleepers, so nothing of mine is really flashy. Welcome to the board!

Sleeper. My plan is to mad max my car. Nothing fancy, just a ballistic cruise missle on the track.

That's great!!!
Where are u all you from, and how/who started this board and website??
I'm from the Montreal area and i rarely see some 240's up here! Well.... i mean S14's of course. Do you do some events althogether?
So sorry for all the questionning but i don't feel like reading 30,000 posts to know it all :lol <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>
Is this place more a 240 owner board or 240 lover board ?

Hey wassup, welcome to the board. Neway, my idea of rice is to have a car that looks fast and doesn't go fast. If ur gonna talk the talk u should walk the walk ....... my 2 cents. ;-)

I think its mostly owners, but we do have some "once had a 240, don't anymore but still stick w/ the board" and we have some "don't have a 240, but i'm getting one so i'm reading up on stuff at the board". That's pretty much most of the people. I, however am the "owned a beautiful 240, wrecked it racing, and i stick with the board cause i'm getting another one when i get my license back" So welcome to the board. :-)

Yah, I am from montreal too... I am surprised that Halo didn't plug www.npclub.com ... but it's pretty french if you don't mind! But I know what you mean, I have my s14... and you talk about exlusive, I have only seen about 4 in the last year here...

I've been on NPclub.com but i think it's not really serious... humm i don't wanna be mean or hatefull but i don't like it when people are 14, never drove a car, and pretend they know everything.. cause they read it on the net... my opinion though!!! But maybe i judge too fast.. anyways, i've seen more than 4 240's in the past year.. but only 3 modified.. including mine lol... the others were driven by non-racers (to not say old people)
And the rice idea... i don't mind people moding exterior but as long as they don't tell people that its goin faster because they added a wing.... or think its actually is faster... but anyways bring em on i'm gonna eat em alive.... lol
Hey, welcome to Zilvia.net!
I'm all about performance here, I doubt I'll ever do any looks mods...cept maybe glass headlight covers some day.
What all have you done to your car so far?
Also, Mark West (WeST on the forum) started this wonderful site.

Another lady! What have you done to your car so far? I'm into both, but performance goes first, then looks. I hope someday to make my car for street and show.

Welcome.:)
I'm all about performance...it's always at the top of my list of priorities for the car. However, it doesn't hurt to look sharp...just not gaudy. I intend to eventually get the late model 180SX Type-X taillights and the JDM OEM ground effects and spoiler. But that will be the finishing touch most likely...after full suspension, after turbo motor swap and supporting mods. Right now, I have over $2000 in performance mods and like $50 in looks (clear blinkers/sidemarkers).

Well, I am eager to mean all Nissan 240 owners. I just got my car, and money is tight till I move in with my buddy... but after that, well time for some serious modifications. This summer strut and sway bars, along with new brakes are going in... that much is for sure. After that, we shall see... the engine gets NOTHING, cause I am waiting for an sr...

Even in a twin turbo Toyota Supra, you never would have figured my best freind's mom used to race.

I don't see anything wrong with that <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>
Anyways, i'm all about looks. Front bumper has a huge gash in it, right rear quater is dinged and scratched.... maan... just from that you can TELL my car is fast. (Front bumper from understeering into an embankment, rear quater from oversteering and kissing a post... high speeds on winding roads = not very smart >_<)

The thing that I laugh at, is those guys with hondas that stick big wings on the back of there car and wonder why the car gets all squidgy (word of the day) at 75... it's called downforce and you have a ff... all the power is getting lifted off the ground buddy!

Welcome [feeling esoteric]
What is performance? Is it power or the ability to carve a corner or does it matter? I'm always a bit leery of people claiming to be "racers," as I don't see a lot of ITS or ITA 240s in the world. Don't recall any at the strips really either.
When you care enough about your car to ball it up, does that make you more performance oriented?
I guess I care more about driving than the car, period. Looks are expensive to replace if something bad should happen (offs and body kits don't mix). Power - #### - I can't drive what I have near the limits yet!
At any rate, we are a mix of enthusiasts - from 12 year olds to newbies that are just waiting to sell that 'teg (no offense to Takumi... just to the others) to owner enthusiasts.

I say go for looks first. Hey, call me a girl but I could always back down a race and make others think I'm too fast to race them... lol...

i go for preformance first. i dont care if the trim peices are falling of and the fender is missing. if i can whoop some serious ass in it it donsnt matter to me. i just want speed. i am gonna do some looks though like rims and maybe a widebody kit but thats only for function so i can put some wide ass wheels on it

01-28-2002, 02:27 PM
well its looks first for me.. im honest.. im not good enough to race my car out.. so i wont even try to pretend that i can.. so until my skills improve.. i really just want to get to know my car better.. and learn to use what i have to my best advantage.. yanno?.. and plus its my only car.. so if i wreak it racing.. then its over.. and i dont want to do that..

I'll think about looks when I've got to the 300bhp mark!
I guess at the moment the car budget seems to be oriented mostly towards looks and handling when I first bought her. Performance as in "go f-ken fast bits" is comming along a bit slower as Im hesitant to put anything but the best that I can find in it and that can get expensive.
Though if I get a bank loan through I might be putting in an SR20DET head, plenum, mainfold from an S15 and turbo from an R33 GTST plus a nice HKS or Trust FMIC.
We'll see what I can find though.

i'm from halifax area in n.s. and i'm all about having a sleeper. a car that you don't know is fast until i blow you doors off. just a nice one color paint job shined all up with as much hp as possible. unfortunatly i come froma town where people like to buy 89 civic hatchbacks and put v tec stickers, body kits and a whole lot of other crap(like windsheild washerfluid lights, i hate those the most) but keep the motor 100% stock. i don't mean to be a dick cause i'm glad they want to do stuff to their cars i just wish they wouldn't rice it right up. but i suppose it makes my car that more impressive

I'm into neither. I bought a 240 because you don't have to mod it to make it look cool, and the performance is allright. However I would change the performance 100 times before looks... don't fuck a good thing up!! Keep your beautiful body strait...

Lets see.... performance or looks... Well put it this way. I'd paint my car shit brown with streaks if it meant I'd get another 20 hp out of it <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

hiya, i'm Ryan, and i'm hot... haha so much for an introduction. yeah well i own a s13 fastback. well, i'm all about looks. yeah, i wanna upgrade performance, but i'd rather be styling before hand because who wants a stock looking car to be fast? not many. my 240 is fast enough for now... once i dusted a true type r teg in my stock 240... and all of the other japense spec cars in my town... i'm fine with performance. its all about the roll. its all about turning heads. because of man of my caliber is use to that. haha. later guys.

Ok cool, now i got so many different responses... isn't it nice to see that whatever we like (perf or looks) we're passionate about it and wouldn't change it for the world.... I say whatever fits your shoe... (i'm not sure if its the good proverb) Be yourself and don't change 'cause people tell u its rice or its impossible or its stupid... I know i work hard for my money and i like to reward myself with a 1,500$ part for my 240... some people think i'm nuts... so what, i love it...
I'm not here to tell u what's hot and what's not... there's as many different opinions as there's many different persons... for the wing thing if i offended u i'm sorry, if you feel the difference good for you <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> maybe you'll take a curve faster than me who don't have a big wing...
i'll do it all when i can afford it all...
until then.....

it depends, if returning it to stock (sileighty/S13-15) is looks, then looks first. If its performance (cause the new engine) then performance. conversion first, then it looks perfect forever, then power suspension, power, suspension, poooooowwweeeerrrrr
Devilish240
01-28-2002, 08:54 PM
And now my mods....
Apex'i dual N1
Air filter (custom cold air intake on the way)
NGK platinum plugs, cap rotor, Accel wires
H&R sport springs (ordered last week)
Dunlopp W10 tires
Stereo system (enough to not hear that there's a firetruck right behind me.. just ok...)
For this spring (cause i'm taking a racing class, so gotta be prepared for some braking action):
Slotted Brembo rotors (only front)
Hawks Hp+ pads
For this summer:
New 17" mags (anthracite) still looking for some ideas haven't made up my mind... but something as light as possible (as it could be in 17") and not too flashy.. any ideas?<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>? LOL
For next winter.... Sr baby!!! maybe
BTW i'm havin' a blast learning how to do everything by myself... from changing oil... ... to install springs... to installing an exhaust... just wanna know everything... I wish i could do the swap by myself one day.... but still learning lotsa new stuff.... lucky me there's an owner's manual LOL

Sorry...I have to call BS on that one. Either that, or your local ITR driver either wasn't racing or didn't know how to drive. Those cars run a full 1sec. if not 1.5sec. faster in the quarter.

Agreed. If you are stock, an ITR would spank your ass. I raced one when I was stock, so I know from experience.

most my projects i go for performance, cept my accord took me a while to find engine mods. But my Lancer i keep it low profile as possible. I have a custom hand built engine that my dad built. I want my Lancer to look as plain as possible, thus people will under estimate its power. Same goes for my Del Sol. Might start a silvia project soon....

Im going for show before go, heres the order in which i intend to do everything:
1. Wheels
2. Wing
3. Body Kit
4. Exhaust
5.Paint
That's with misc small stuff thrown in there, like upgraded interior (shift knob, pedals, seats, wheel, etc) and finishing out my stereo (getting the Premier 930R deck, and getting an amp for the 12's that have been in my closet for half a year). A SR20DET swap is the LAST thing on my list.

i've seen a lot of pretty quik s13's and s14's around here (chicago). some of em look pretty good w/ what they've done...i've notice that most of the quicker ones have nothing done to the outside, but maybe rims and tires. i'm kinda leaning towars more Go than show this year. but if you got it, i guess it's ok to flaunt it
