alright guys...I'm looking into getting an alarm...I was wondering if you guys could give me feedback about the systems that you have had experienced...

These are the features I'm looking for:
-keyless entry
-remote trunk release
-remote start (5speed) not for the wow factor but because I live in Boston and it tends to get really cold here...
-shock sensors.

not looking for something really expensive just need something to get the job done, and protect all my goodies inside the car...

If you are looking for something just to get the job done then try ebay. they have several low priced alarms. I bought a crimestopper from ebay and it gets the job done. I have Keyless entry, starter kill, shock sensor. Also if the hood or trunk are opened the alarm goes off. If you have a s13 then you wont be able to get the remote trunk release.
look at this.

i had trunk release on my s13, its nothing more than a solenoid that connects to your trunk lever inside the back of the car.

I've got a compustar that I love!! only problem is the remote start dosnet turn the heat on.. seperate igniton switch somewhere. I gotta dig in and find that and change it. (move the heating system to turn on with the motor) waiiting on Russ (r240na) to bring his but to NC :) hehe couple more weeks.

compustar also has a turbo timer function built in 1/4 mile range for the cheap one mile and a half for the expensive one lcd display on the remote. great piece. I love it. going on a year now with it and no complaints

I have a clifford, love it! It has keyless entry, shock sensors, starter disable, fuel cut-off (good for 5 speed), remote trunk release, remote starter, remote window closing (power only, duh), some anti car jacking system... which I don't use, and you can add on interior motion sensors! There is alot more you can add on to them, but do a little research and you will find out. Hope this helps

keep in mind that %80 of a good alarm depends on how good the installer is....

u can have the best name brand in the world and have a shitty install and it wont work as well (duh)

I sell cat stereos all daaayyy long. For an alarm with the features you mentioned, look into a DEI product, Vuper, Clifford, Wasp, Rattler, they're all the same. At retail, you are looking at least $400+. But for an alarm to be really good, like the previous guy said, it has to do with the install itself. Some features you should absolutely get if you want more protection, is an auxiliary siren, and a back up battery. Glass tamper sensor if you want that extra security. (glass can be broken without setting off the alarm) ...don't waste your money on a prox.

Clifford. Works for me, wish it had keyless entry.

yup I have a 5 speed. the place that installed it the owner was out at an autocross in his porsche carrera. he's got the same alram on his new porsche 911 turbo his wifes S2000 and their Yukon. kinda sold me right there :)

its setup so that the car wont start if its left in gear.. but the cut off saftey switch on mines built into the brake pedal. soon as you tap the brakes the car shuts off unless you have the key in. i need to take it back to them the shock senors arent sensitive enough. I can pop the hood and not have it go off. but then again I dont worry about the car much. I mostly got it for the keyless entry and autostart and turbo timer. plus the remote is pure bling :D

car alarms are completely over-rated. a clean and stealth install that is properly soldered and shrink tubed is WAY more important that that "beep beep" and "whistle whistle," thats for sure.

I have one of the Python 780vx or whatever it is called. it is the one that has the little cell phone looking dealie with a picture of the car on it that will tell you what sensor has been triggered and stuff. Has remote start (on 5-speed) and all that jazz. The installer is wicked good and it was a super clean install.

I like it but the damned remote is friggin huge!!!

it has shock and radar preimiter sensor, starter kill, keyless entry, output for trunk release although I cant get that on my car, and im ordering the remote start module. Very nice simple reliable alarm.
