long story short the original owner dropped the motor in. i just upgraded. some of these pics are from the original owner. when i got it she needed a little love, but she's running and driving great now. still gonna mess with some of the wiring and clean up a few things but for the most part she's complete and ready to go. i've got some things up my sleeves too, she won't be so slow for long!

some pics are from my phone so pardon the quality

thought i'd also share the mess i've been dealing with and where she's at now. so far i've spent over 70 hours rewiring this car. first things first...here's some of the before shots.......

this is the kind of wiring i've been dealing with. notice the HUGE main UNFUSED power wires bolted together with nothing more then a loose rag keeping them from shorting to ground.

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/robbie2883/240/fix01.jpg

and the power wire going through the firewall with a grommet that's way too small rubbing against bare metal hole, and the smaller one running between the main grommet and metal? oh..and that one is for the amp. so he ran a power wire from the back of the car to the front to hook up to the main wire going to the battery which is in the truck. instead of jsut running the amp wire across the trunk to the battery.

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/robbie2883/240/fix02.jpg

it only made 180 whp on the dyno when i first got it......

here is a simple after pic since doing alot of rewiring. alot more has been rewired correctly since this picture too

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/robbie2883/240/fix03.jpg

now we get to the fun...where i've made a mess of things. had to do an oil change and the filter is in such a pita place that i decided to do an oil relocation kit and cooler at the same time so i only have to get under there once. needed to pull the manifold for a radiator breather anyway.

while i had it apart i decided to take a look at the timing belt b/c i had a sneaking suspision something wasn't right....well guess what...i was right...several things were wrong....first off the belt was WAAAAAAAY too tight. so tight the idler pulley took the top layer of the belt off and caked it on the pulley. next there were some metal shavings on the tensioner pulley. i took it off and noticed the conical washer was on backwards. my guess is that let the tensioner pulley wobble which is bad for the internal bearing. last but not least the crank timing gear was on BACKWARDS!!!! this means there was no timing mark to line the belt up to when installing. WTF!!!!! oh...and the tensioner pulley has groves in it i can feel with my fingernail...all from the belt being too tight. again...WTF!!!!

did a little wiring and got everything ready on the cluster end. jsut need to solder a few wires into the car and pin the male end of the plug then the cluster goes in!

That's exactly why I would never buy a car that's had any work done to it...

You've done a good job cleaning it up, so far, though!

thanks....i just wanted to keep it subtle and stock looking but be able to show the fenders off. since we shaved the vents most people don't even notice they are aftermarket fenders unless i point that out.

Great work!

I love the wrinkle red on the calipers, how do you get that finish?

Have you re-dyno'd it? Would be interesting to see the difference in power.

Keep up the awesomeness!

Ahhh, I remember this car. I saw it at Spring Fling a few years back. Old man sitting next to the car said his daughter owned it, and then I asked her a few very simple questions and she didn't know what the fuck she was talking about. A few weeks later I found a youtube video of the owner picking it up from the shop. His name was Austin I believe, and it was done at Fighters Garage here in Pensacola. Looks good, although I liked it better with the other wheels and the stance it was at

clean! but the car would look 10x better with a oem front lip, the stock bumpers on the koukis are way too short.

you are right and wrong. that was my grandfather and my wife. she does own the car too, but doesn't know a ton about it. she's learned more though. the video was from about a year before spring fling. not long before i got the car. it'll be back next spring fling though. austin is the kid i got it from. a couple of those pics are from when the motor was going together and in before i owned it. (i showed him how to build the motor so i know it was done right) then i got it from him shortly after fighters revved the piss out of a brand new motor for no good reason! lol

so you liked the silver wheels better? i liked em, it's just not what i wanted...and they were peeling like crazy so i went for something else.

i agree....jsut haven't decided if i want to do lip or shine auto bumper. there's alot i don't like about the oem lip, but i agree it would make the car overall look better.

thanks man. the calipers were actually powdercoated. i broke them down and sent them to a guy in atlanta who does awesome work.

i'll be dyno'ing it again here soon with the 35r. just need to get the avcr installed and then find some time to run it up there.
