Hey guys I'm planning on buying an S13 that has a complete sr20 swap, adjustable coilovers and FMI. I don't know what brands they are. It also comes with 17 inch wheels. The only problem that I'm aware of is that it has a spun bearing. The crank is supposedly in good condition.
Paint is primered and interior is in good condition.
The price is $1300
Need to know some info on what i need to be looking for since the car is 3.5 hours away.
Also the title is lost but the owner already filed for a lost title. Should this be a problem also?

Thanks in advance

Wait till the title stuff is figured out. Then pick that bitch up and get it rebuilt

The guy offerd to give me the bill of sale in the mean time. I would just hate to pass up a good deal.
Also speaking of rebuilds thats what i had planned but not sure which brand to go with. Will going with the OEM kit be good enough?

Depends... what are you power goals? if you want like 300whp then your fine with stock internals

Well I'm hoping for 3-400 whp. Within the next couple months. Any tips? There doesn't seem to be much of a price difference between the rebuild kits I've seen

I bought mine with a known blown ring problem and it cost me about 1800 bucks to get it rebuilt with forged internals and good OEM parts and this included machine work. I did all the assembly/cleaning work my self and shopped for deals on everything.

New oem gasket kit, water pump, timing kit, lower pan, rocker arms, oem main bolts
Upgraded mahle pistons, eagle rods, ARP head studs, cometic gasket, ACL race bearings

Its very doable on the cheap if you take your time a scour for the deals. Everything above was brand new.

if you gonna rebuild, do it with forged internals. i mean you're gonna rip it apart anyway, minues well "bullet proof" it so if you ever get power hungry (which you will trust me, a baby t28 turbo upgrade isnt gonna suffice, you gonna want to go top mount and beat that shit up :). It isnt THAT THAT much more in cost for the parts and like what the guy above me said, just do your own assembly and it will be cheaper. The only thing you prolly cant do yourself (unless you work at a machine shop?) you'd need machine workin on is just to clean up any clearance issues.
i too am saving towards a forged bottom end (my next to do list)

Thanks guys, this has helped with my decision making. Now i just gotta wait for the seller to sort things out with the title since it's still under the previous owners name.FML

Do not buy until title situation is figured out, I've gotten screwed over before even with a notorized bill of sale.

Yea i sent him the documentation needed for the previous owner to get a new title since he knows the previous owner. This is probably why it's so cheap.

Bearings are designed to spin. I don't see problem?

lol he mentioned spun bearing as the bearing spun over the main journal, not the crankshaft side.
