Ok, so ever since I installed the new motor, I have been getting a code 34 for the knock sensor. I have tried 3 different used knock sensors now (2 of them were tested on other cars, and known to be good), all test within spec of the Nissan FSM.
I tested for continuity between the ecu and the plug, and the subharness plugs as well. Both test clean and clear. I have also tried 2 different ECU's; the E5 that came with the motor and a 62 redtop ECU. Same code 34.
I reset the ecu, and changed a knock sensor at lunch today and got it to clear out for a few min, but then after driving it, it came back...i'm running out of ideas...anyone?
I'm running an S13 Blacktop SR20 in my S14. Stock ECU, stock maf, stock injectors,
[email protected] (but really havent even boosted it yet, because its only been running for a few days).
yes, I have searched, and done everything that I had found via reccomendations of searching

BZ, i had a similar issue when i boosted the KA. I brought it to Martin at Enthalpy and had him tune the car to be conservative, then turned off the knock sensor in the tune. I havent had a problem since.

Yea, I was thinking about getting a JWT tune anyways, but I'd really like to get it figured out, and retain the stock knock sensor...ya know?

i feel ya dude. im just sayin that i couldn't figure mine out, so i turned it off and havent looked back. with a proper tune and a wideband, you should be ok.

Are you using a DMM or AMM?

DMM.
I checked it at lunch today after driving it for a few days, and there was no code! Not sure why lol. But I let it run and warm up, and then checked it again, and again, no code. So I guess I'll just drive it, and keep checking it after every time I drive it and see if it pops back up.

vas570sx your knock sensor problem is detonation. I tune the knock map very rich at idle so that a wideband would show 10.1 or so. It's easier to see that something is wrong.
If the knock sensor is to remain on.
BlackZenkiS14 yours appears to be circuit. very rarely can you knock at idle with 93oct, not saying it's impossible. just rare. Try some sharp turns or whatever may make the harness jolt. then check for the code.

The only thing I can think of is that your ignition timing is off, you checked your base timing lately?

Yep. I got it figured out, I think I just had a bad knock sensor it looks like. I havent seen the code in over a week now!
