whats the price of putting a nos kit in a sr swap?
whats the likely hood of blowing the engine?
how much more hp will i gain ?
is it worth it???
thanks !!!!

Don't do a 100 shot of NOS. You might blow the welds off the intake....
i remember my first 240.......
You do realize that once you use nos, you have to go back and get it refilled, it doesnt fill up automatically if you go above 60mph....

You should rebuild your piston rings also, I knew a guy with a green Eclipse that fried his piston rings but then several minutes later, his car ran just fine

well how does nos work?
do you need to be going a certain speed to use it?
and i was just wondering. and asking.

Dear jesus, first off NOS is a brand, its called nitrous oxide. And if you dont know a damn thing about it, which you dont from reading your posts then dont even worry about it, just gonna fuck shit up. Short and sweet, prolly not what you wanna here but its the truth. You have an SR (maybe?) theres plenty of other stuff you can do to increase performance besides adding spray. Just read a whole lot more and talk to peole who know what theyre doing.

If you know nothing about it, then don't even attempt to run it. Nitrous is not something you can just play around with on a stock motor

ok....WEELLLLLL what are some things i can do to my sr to increase performance ?
and can you explain nitrous ? ive looked on here and havent found anything really.

What all is done to your SR man. It very simple terms think of nitrous as a supercharger/turbocharger that can be turned on with the press of a button and then turned off again. You're making the air denser than it would be under naturally aspirated conditions, therby increasing the performance of your engine...(grossly over simplified and i dont know a enough to mess with it myself so dont take me as the end all source ont eh subject) if you know what youre doing with it, its perfectly safe, if you dont then its a recipe for disaster.

I joined this forum is learn about 240sx. I'd rather ask question and try to learn then be a tool and pretend I know about cars.
and everyone is saying nos is dangerous but none of you had given reason.
whats so bad about it???

Have you learned nothing from The Fast and the Furious?! NOS will cause danger to manifold.
If you want increased performance, start with bolt ons. FMIC, intake, exhaust, etc. Then move on to things like boost controllers and bigger turbos.

nitrous is not for everyone. i has a 75 shot on my stock ka24de with 180+k miles for almost two years and nothing bad ever happened. like stated above for sr20 i would much rather go with boltons and increased boost pressure.
there are many reasons to why nitrous is dangerous. it dense the air in a naturally aspirated motor and turbo motors alike, at the same time it can easily lean out your motor if a wet shot is used(which is much better). oxygen supports combustion which is why the motor makes more power when on nitrous.
all in all..... DONT DO NITROUS. you can see much better and more reliable power for simple boltons to your sr.

he's referring to the people that thrashed him for asking a simple question. i've honestly been considering nitrous on my ls1 setup for quite some time, but you'll find more gains elsewhere. therefore... boltons, though more expensive, will get your further in the long run. ecspecially on a turbocharged application. the only reason youd ever want to consider nitrous on a forced induction setup would be to make up for a lack of turbo response down low. but in your case, boltons will be far more effective and safe.

ok, nitrous injection will give you more power per dollar if it`s set up correctly. nitrous oxide has more oxygen than air(i believe 3 times more), so, that means you need to use 3 times more fuel with it. check your nitrous` kit`s manufacturer recommended jettings. if you are using it on a turbo engine, i highly suggest you use a wet set up(fuel and nitrous are sprayed/injected from the same fogger). reason why i recommend wet over dry(nitrous is injected without fuel), is because dry uses the fuel pressure regulator to increase fuel pressure by routing some nitrous to the vacuum/boost port of the fpr to raise fuel pressure to compensate for the nitrous that is being injected. well, if you have a turbo that is already adding boost to the regulator, you have a good chance that your fuel pressure is not gonna get any higher than what you need to compensate for the nitrous. wet set up on the other hand gets fuel from the fuel rail. so in my opinion, it`s a better set up for boosted engines. nitrous gets a bad name because a lot of people don`t know when to use it. if you have a 4 cylinder engine, don`t use it till the rpm is at 3,000 or higher. also make sure your engine is at wide open throttle. lower rpm`s will more than likely cause detonation due to extreme cylinder pressure pushing down on the pistons that are not moving fast enough. unless you have a low rpm v6 0r v8 engines that can handle high cylinder pressures at low rpm, don`t squeeze until you get to 3,000 rpm or higher. also, adding nitrous to a turbo engine will require a stronger ignition system and or lower gapped 2 steps colder spark plugs and about 2-4 degrees of ignition retard per 50 hp. also, if your ecu has a boost cut feature, you`ll probably hit it and cause a very bad nitrous back fire in the intake that can taco your throttle body, crack the intake manifold, rip silicone hoses, and other damages. reason is nitrous injection will make the boost go about 3-4 psi higher and also come much quicker. it`s a great way to reduce turbo lag. on a stock 4 cylinder turbo engine, i don`t suggest anything higher than a 50hp shot. that 50 hp shot will probably make more than 50 extra wheel horsepower due to increase in boost and a cooler intake charge. if you follow the manufacturers instructions, you`ll be smiling from ear to ear with no problems everytime you use it. but, in California, if you get pulled over with a nitrous tank in the car, your car WILL get towed and impounded.

Nitrous Oxide is nothing more then a way to force more Oxygen into your motor. The Nitrogen Oxygen mix (N2O) is substantially more stable under normal conditions then pure Oxygen, therefore making it much safer then driving around with a time bomb in the back seat.
Realistically, it's not a good idea on turbo cars, or at least not in the conventional sense (Injecting it into the throttle body or combustion chamber to raise the amount of available Oxygen), but you can use it to cool your intercooler in the same way that CO2 or Water Sprayers work. It's common to see Nitrous on Turbo drag cars, but usually the Nitrous is used to compensate for Turbo Lag at low RPM's - but more likely than not, your motor isn't well built enough to handle Nitrous....

Its pretty pointless on a stock SR. Now if you have a big fat turbo that's laggy, you can use nos to help spool it up sooner or set it up to help keep the air temp down and keep the engine from knocking.

I have been running this set up for years. Never had a problem. Side mount, 2871 turbo, 125 shot of nos at 1200 and then again at 5000 rpms. when the second shot hits i close my eyes and dream of happy little kitties and puppies playing in a field. My car runs fine
