View Full Version : Trying to understand where SR ECU gets its power

So I have had a recent rash of problems with my redtop/240 and it has left me with no power to my ECU. It kept blowing the ENG CONT 25 fuse and now it does nothing. There is no continuity between the output of that fuse and the ECU power wire (B/W), nor is there any grounding training (www.azmythmusictech.com) going on when tested, at least not at the moment. Does the ECU get its power directly from this fuse or is there a relay in between? I am looking at the service manual, but I cannot even find this wire in there. Can anyone help? Maybe point me to a block diagram?

There is a relay between the fuse and the ECU. It's yhe EGI relay.

That seems to be the problem. None of the relays in that box are clicking when the ignition is turned on, although they have voltage going to them on pins 2 and 4. No continuity to ground on pin one though. I would assume the other pin would have to go to ground?

Does anyone know where pin 1 on these relays goes?

1 of a few schematics available for sr. Check your ECU #/Letters.

pin 36 on your ecu is where power goes in. when you turn the ign switch the ecu gets 12v and grounds the ecu. I had a 12v wire going directly to ground. Ended up with a fried ecu and an hours worth of wiring to sort thru.

If you have a multi-meter see if you have continuity from the positive terminal of the battery to a good ground in your engine bay.

I dont think you guys are understanding the problem or maybe didnt read the whole thing thread. I already have the ecu pinout. Been over that, but the relay is not sending power to the ecu. In fact, none of the relays in that box are engaging. They are getting power to pin 2 however, but no ground to pin 1 which almost has to be chassis ground. I am just trying to confirm that this should be seeing ground, because none of them are seeing it and the ground under the box is good.
