Decided to redo the stereo system layout in the trunk of my S14. As a result, I am selling the custom sub box I built. Box is constructed of 3/4" MDF, based on JL Audio volume specs for a sealed system. Rear of the box has a small panel that is removable for access to the box internals. Subwoofer is a JL Audio 12W1v2-4. I designed the box to provide a great deal of usable trunk space, convenient access to the spare, as well as still allowing longer items to be carried with the rear seats folded down...all while achieving optimal in-car bass, with a layout for maximizing the phase coupling of the incident and reflected soundwaves, based on information provided at this link. (http://www.teamrocs.com/technical/pages/aiming.htm) If YOU want to hear the bass while riding in the car, then this is the sub for you.
Slot allows the trunk to close properly, however, the wiring harness that is attached to the drivers side trunk arm will need to be re-positioned to hug the underside of the arm. You will have to remove the OEM trunk springs and either use a hydraulic strut on the passenger side trunk arm or devise a trunk prop of some sort. Can't remember what hydraulic strut I used...wasn't too difficult, I just followed the info from a tutorial like this. (http://www.civicforums.com/forums/117-interior/56901-diy-trunk-shocks.html)
Rear of the sub snugs right up to the wheel well with a custom molded rear fiberglass portion of the box. I will included the brackets I devised for securing the sub in place. Sold as a unit, asking $200 OBO. Please no low-ballers, as this is a custom setup. Would prefer to sell locally...I will ship, but shipping will be on top of agreed upon price. Thanks for looking.
