This isn't my video, but my 300zx is having the exact same sound/problem. When I rev, it increases in tone and loudness. When It is in neutral it makes the same sound, but goes away once I press in the clutch. It's coming from the transmission and don't think it is a throw out bearing sound because I replaced it thinking it was and it is still making the sound... What could it be? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

(Made another thread but felt the title wasn't appropriate to getting me answers. If mod noticed, please delete other thread. tnx)

I have the same issue. I suspect its the trans its self. Whether it is low fluid or something really wrong I haven't had the time to dive in and check it out. Ill me mad if its the trans that thing was a $75 junk yard trans with 100k +mi on it, it shouldn't be going out this fast.

Sorry my friend but you are officially on the way to being fuked. Your transmission is on the way out. Take this from someone who's gone through a few of them. That's the sound of your bearings going out. Either you lost a lot of fluid and one or more bearings died or your fluid of choice thinned out over time (or was too thin from the beginning for your driving style). Change your transmission as soon as you can before your car leaves you stranded or in an accident.

So new Transmission then? You think it could just be the pilot bushing? I figure it's either that or like you said the bearings, such as the input shaft bearing.

Well my car made the same sound, and it was my pilot bushing, they sent me a automatic sr20 with a manual transmission, the auto pilot bushing was in there had to find a manual tranny pilot bushing and swap them out, noise went good bye afterwards. Also maybe get some really good trans fluid, try Amsoil or Redline it'll help the trans out tremendously.

Honestly, if you're lucky. But I know that sound, and for me, it's always been transmission and never pilot. Here's what might happen if you think it's your pilot. You're going to spend alllll that time taking off your trans, replacing the pilot, and then reinstalling the trans... and then the noise will still be there, and you'll want to kill yourself. Honest real-life advice... change the transmission, change the pilot.

The guy above me had a pilot problem because of a mismatch. I don't think you've got a mismatch do you? So yeah... trans. And when you have this transmission out, you can learn how to rebuild it and be prepared the next time this happens, which hopefully will be far from now.

For transmission fluid, nissan manual says 75w-90 which imo is way too foking thin. Every trans i killed, i was using good 75w90 oil. Now, i use Redline Shockproof Heavy and no problems ever.

Good luck to you!

Thank's for the sound advice Mister Brownpants. ahahah I love your username. On the real, I really do appreciate you helping put things in perspective. Now to find a new-used transmission.
