many things could be. boost leak. check mass air flow also along the MAF wiring. check to see if the wiriring could be damage. or turn on the car with the MAF disconnected. see the diffrence. if not could be mechanical. also any changes like changing the turbo requires to change the fuel map of the ECU. but then again is the turbo used?

Yeah I found that out the hard way when my car wouldn't rev past 2500 and it took me all day to realize the maf was loose lol, but what would that help with trying to figure out why it's smoking?

Smoking varies on color of smoke man. Could be many things just depends on color.

Firstly, why did you think your turbo was blown anyway?
Did it smoke before, did that lead to to assume your turbo was blown? If so, maybe it was not your turbo, could be many things valve stem seals, boost leak, HG. Try to use elimination, you can start with a compression test, then a leak-down test. Also factor in when it smokes? At a stop light...........

check your oil also. if it has coolant in it more than likely its your hg and theres where the smoke is coming from

white smoke is oil, steam is water/coolant, and black smoke is excessive fuel(very rich condition). if it was smoking white before and after you replaced the turbo, it could be oil in the intercooler that the old/bad turbo left. if that`s the case, you either just let it all burn until it`s gone, or you can drain the intercooler. if the intercooler does not have any oil, the turbo oil drain could be plugged and or collapsed, or you need a restrictor on the turbo oil inlet. if it`s steam, you might have a blown headgasket. how does the engine run? is it overheating, misfiring, does the cooling system get pressurized a few minutes after the engine starts?
