I just purchased an Alpine Head Unit as Well as Alpine speakers. Upon completion of everything I turned off the car after listening to everythign and saving all of my settings and stations and what not. Then I go out and turn the car back on and all of my settings are not saved anymore this happens everytime I turn the car off, What are the possible problems to cause this?

Does it have a security light or anything?

If so does it blink when the car is off?

Recheck your connections, mainly red wire (power).

How excatly did you install it? Did you just wire directly from the head unit to the main harness thing, or did you buy a harness wire it to the head unit and plug it in?

double check your wiring it sounds like you don't have the constant 12V hooked up, there's 2 different power wires that have to be hooked up, one that turns on when you start the car to turn the deck on and the other one is always on to save your presets and such

First.. check the yellow 12 volt constant wire..
then check the GROUND wire... nissan dont have ground in the harness.. you must have connected that to the wire harness you bought...
extend the ground wire of the alpine and attach it to the metal behind the radio area..
nissan radio uses the antenna for ground... i have been an installer for many years.. i also have a nissan....usually.. the ground on the antenna is okay to use.. but it's better to run a new ground wire...
if all dont work.. it should be the yellow constant power wire... or check to make sure the red and yellow wire on either harness is not swap by accident.. not by you.. but the manufacture..other wise.. run a new power wire...

I have another question on the same topic. I installed a head unit a while back and I never got around to fixing this problem but I don't get reception of radio stations at all. My antenna goes up when I turn on the radio but no reception. What's up with that?

Flybert - you bought the radio adapter thing right? Most new cd players don't have that two prong connector on them so you need an adapter.

After that if you still have no reception, unplug it and switch the prongs around. I found that when I did that I got good reception.
