Which company makes the lowest springs at least a 2" Drop?

You are going to kill your handling if you drop your car that low with Tokico blues. But then again someone with so much cosmetic stuff on their car might not really care about such things.

Just incase you were wondering, MOST 240 suspension setups dont operate well when they are excessively slammed.

Tokico even states that they dont suggest going any lower than -1". That is why I purchased the blues with a set of Tokico springs back in the day, they work wonders hand in hand.

why not just buck up and get coilovers if you are concerned about an exact drop?..

just my suggestions..this was as your tastes (wheels, tracks, roads, etc) change so can your suspension...

tanabes are not a 2 inch drop. they are a 1.5" drop..... i measured before and after at about 16 different points on my car, and its only 1.5". also... YOU make the lowest springs, with your hacksaw :)

i know i know! dremel makes the lowest springs!

but seriously, if you want real ghetto lowness and horrible handling, ebay 'coilover' springs are at $45 plus shipping! what a deal!

anywho, i believe s13silady is correct, sprint is probably the lowest. as for intrax, they aren't actually that much of a drop, it's just that intrax springs are known to sag over time. don't ask how i know.

who cares what your car does in the straights? the purpose of suspension is to help your car in the turns. removing suspension travel with lowering springs and using shocks that arent designed to be used with that particular spring will just destroy your handling.

cut your springs or get brand-x coilovers, if all you care about is going straight.

If you want to lower your car more than 2 inches, coilovers is the only way to go. Dont be cheap and get some ghetto springs. You will regret it. YOU GOTA TREAT YOUR CAR RIGHT FOR IT TO TREAT YOU RIGHT!

i have tokico shocks with tokico springs, i replaced every bushing in the suspension, have sway bars, and plenty of bars reinforcing the chassis.

my point?

the key to building a good suspension setup involves WAY more than just a set of shocks, springs, or coilovers.

speaking of pics, here is a pic of my car with what tokico called -1" lowering springs (although I dont believe they are available anymore):

don't do it...stick with your current setup or go for a full set of coilovers

That looks low enough for me. How do you like the springs and shocks? Btw, are the springs red?

old_s13

The shocks are blue, the springs are black.. I've had them for 5 or so years and still like them for city/canyon use.

Coilovers would be great for those who want to start fine tuning their suspension, whether its ride height or stiffness and rebound adjustability. Its important that people know its not a "requirement" thats all.

The purpose of suspension is not only for the turns... a good suspension gave get you out of the whole a ton better, plus will allow for much less front to back weight shifting while ripping down the track. Some people want to go straight...

Starfire: What springs do you have now? Pro Kits? If you just want to go low, sportlines will do it for you, but you may not want to do it on Tokico shocks (they may even have too short a travel for AGXes. . .)- 2.2" iirc.

Not saying anything against the Tokicos, I use the same shocks and springs as Old_s13 and they are wonderful.

sigh, why are springs always referred to by their "drop?" What happened to the important stuff like the spring constant? :P

Bottom line is that people want the car to look more agressive. Some dont understand spring rates or are not all that concerened. I dont blame them if they know they probably wont ever track the car.

its posts like this that remind me why I didn't post for almost a year. Your damn right I'm going to get nostalgic tell you how when I was 17 and used to look up to the people on this board for advise. a safe haven for my stupid questions. a place where I learned most of the stuff I know. I used to wait a week to read half a page of new posts and all were informative - now I'm lucky if I read 4 per page.

He never said that he was only changing his springs, and you didn't take the time to ask. instead it was quick to flame and criticize.
take 5 min and ask. why do you want it lower? is it just for looks or are you trying to get performance out of it - hole shot or handling?
so what if he wants looks - then you can say something informed like you might want to save up for air bags
they don't do much for suspension but that might get you what your looking for and then you don't have to worry about the shocks either.

maybe he's looking for performance handling and just needs to be guided on spring rates and what to look for - that "drop" doesn't always mean better handling. and that you have to use the appropriate shocks

"hey are you going to use the shocks you have, because there really only made to drop 1 inch. you'd be better off with .... because...."

Educate, don't flame

It seems that the most educated people, the ones that can teach the most are quick to flame. but you friggin noobies are the worst. you have the stock motor and springs with the stock shocks and you have the balls to comment on the much greater work he put into his car?

as far as him being more about looks - I don't think he would have taken the time to drop in a black top SR and do the motor and suspension upgrades if he wasn't serious about "going"

cars all about show cant even pop their hood because of the mess of wires and sheer lack of attention for the motor
sometime you get a clean setup but still an SR, with upgrades, on a show car? 5 grand not spend on speakers and lights?

my point is don't let this board go to shit because you don't want to respond with knowledge. if its that much of a problem don't respond

flame flamers not people looking for advise

s13conv: You may have a hard time finding the tokico springs, as far as I know they have been discontinued (maybe upgraded?). If you can find them, great. Linear springs with a good spring rate for a daily driver (~50% stiffer than stock). Good enough to get rid of most body roll, but still OK on your butt :P

Behold, the spring suppository! :P
