Yes, I've searched.

As of last night my car can't get into any gear while it's running. No matter what I do, it's staying in neutral. I decided to try and start it in first, but it jerked forward even though the clutch was down to the floor. There are no leaks in the clutch line, the slave cylinder still moves, I still have fluid, and as far as I can tell, my master is fine as well. My pedal still feels like it always did. No difference anywhere other than not being able to go into gear.

A few days previous to this happening, the clutch made a grinding / scratching noise whenever I'd get it rolling from a dead stop in first. The night before it completely going out, it'd make a grinding / scratching noise whenever the clutch pedal was depressed. So far I've read its either the throwout bearing, or the fork could've simply fell off. Someone else told me the disc is welded to the flywheel. Any other opinions? I want to do as much outside troubleshooting as I can before dropping the trans. This car was my daily driver, and I need it fixed asap. A trans shop estimated 1k minimum for a full clutch overhaul.

Its a 1989 SOHC KA with a 5 speed swap done by the previous owner. Any help is greatly appreciated!

uhh, go to your local parts house, grab a clutch kit for about 125$

go home, and do the following,
-Drain transmission fluid
-disconnect the drive shaft (4x14mm bolts in rear)
-disconnect the 2x 17mm bolts holding the support bearing in place. remove drive shaft
-disconnect the clips for the neutral switch, reverse switch, speed sensor, 5th gear switch
-disconnect the exhaust at the header, and leave it loose.
-remove starter
-remove slave cylinder
-remove shifter (if its a C's style short throw, just unscrew the top portion of the shifter.)
-remove transmission mount and cross member
-loosen the engine mounts, so that the engine may lean/tilt backwards
-secure transmission with a jack, with rolling wheels, so that the tranny doesn't drop and crush you
-remove the bolts securing the transmission to the engine, and give it a tug backwards
-have a friend use a pry bar on the engine, and push backwards, tilting the transmission down
-twist the tranny, so that it clears the transmission well, and slide it off.
-move transmission out of the way, and unbolt the pressure plate
-remove trashed old clutch, probably an ebay special
-remove throw out bearing hub, and press off (wood block & hammer) old bearing
-hammer TOB hub onto the new bearing, and re-install on pivot arm
-install new clutch disk, with alignment tool
-install new pressure plate, and torque to spec
-have friend tilt engine down, and carefully insert transmission back onto the engine, and rotate the input shaft , so that it will slide into the clutch disk
-once the transmission is stabbed back on, install a couple bolts to secure it to the engine, and pretty much reverse the directions.

it takes me about 5 hours to remove, replace, and re-install a transmission, with the help of a friend

Definitely sounds like you puked a spring from the clutch disk and its stuck between the disk and the flywheel.

rotate the input shaft so it will slide into the back of the disc? rotating it to match the spline, or? i've never put in a clutch before, just trying to gather some info. i'm guessing loosening the mounts is just to make the installation of the trans easier?
