ok so i bought a pre-5spd'd convertible. the very next day the engine blew on me. so needless to say i need a new KA. but besides that i noticed that the previous owner had the auto TCM still installed. now wouldnt this effect how much fuel is dumped into the engine? what do i do after i get a new ka? just uninstall it or is there something equivalent to a TCM in a 5spd model 240?

Just leave it in it but shouldn't hurt anything either way. Just make sure you keep the shift lock controller in or the car wont start if i remember right. Im in the middle of this swap on my vert right now. Cant wait to get rid of that crapmatic

You can leave it. The only problems i've heard is slow start when cold. You can also bypass the shift lock with a paper clip in the plug in the engine bay.
If you get a manual ECU then you have to repin a couple wires. There's a writeup on here somewhere.
