So.. who makes engine rebuild kits for the KA still?

I'd like to know too. Additionally, I'm looking for stock spec S13 pistons in a 1mm overbore. Supposedly you could get them from a dealership but they've been out of stock for some time.

I keep hearing about the AMS rebuild kit being tits, but it seems they don't support KA's anymore...

Well you can always piece together your own?
I read your other thread and you are looking to make 320rwhp IIRC
At that point you'll want at least forged pistons which can be had anywhere in a variety of sizes.
FRSport sells a timing chain kit
ACL/Clevite sell bearings
ARP sells hardware
Felpro makes gasket sets.
Etc.

Im currently rebuilding my Ka24de
you can get the rebuild gasket set at the nismo shop for around $170

That's the route i'm probably going to go. My KA already makes 300ish ponies... just now it has low comp and i'd like to build something to last me a while.
I'm thinking forged pistons and nothing fancy beyond that.
Would be nice if i could buy it all in one place at a small discount..

These look sketchy as hell. 380 for everything? I'll pass. You can guinea pig it.

I used a ebay npr rebuild kit before. i used them on a honda gsr motor and one on my sr20det. I drove my s13 for almost 9 thousand miles with no problem, no smoke, and still had great compression. I even turned up the boost to 10psi after the break in. It's probably still alive. (sold it)
So im fine with npr, but if you have the money go with oem.

Personally, NOPE!!! lol i rather spend more money on quality parts that are known to last....

We know how to tell garbage apart
as well as being able to measure critical tolerances
the kits did the job
couple of those KAs blew up but due to other factors
and a few are still running strong a few years after
irrc reason we tried them was because we were experimenting with
high compression KAs and 248 cams
and SOHC pistons were a bit hard to come by
just providing some first hand experience
having said that,
I'd buy/recommend oem for most of my parts

Well yes I completely agree with all of you. My mind was just like wtf! why so cheap? I'm sure the products are good but I just want something that's gonna last me and know won't break.

supertech 8.6 pistons .20 over
reconditioned treated stock rods
All sep hardware
Clevite main bearings (acl was on national backorder)
acl rod bearings
Rebuilt head

As far as felpro head gaskets, the Felpro Permatorque unit has been known to hold 40 psi of boost on 4G63 engines. Not sure what it can do for the KA.
Regardless, what kind of rebuild parts are you looking for ? I have mulitple accounts with almost all the top companies for internals so PM me with a list of parts and I can get you ideas on pricing and what parts you can get.
I can get MLS, ACL, Clevite, Supertech, Arias, Wiseco, Eagle, JE, Crower, etc.

thanks for offer but i pretty much got everything i need, im just looking for a good metal HG for my ka.... other than that, rings are easy to find... Ima end up using King Racing Bearings... my goal is to build a stock Ka with a few aftermarket mods to hold at least 10lbs of boost... Aiming for a sleeper Ka-T....

to add it also holds plenty of power on the KA (felpro pt hg)
few ka-t members using it with 500-600whp

Might as well do forged internals if you are going to rebuild, why waste time machining and doing all the work to put OE replacement parts in???

I'd like to know too. Additionally, I'm looking for stock spec S13 pistons in a 1mm overbore. Supposedly you could get them from a dealership but they've been out of stock for some time.
OEM pistons are a bitch to get. They are basically made to order, something that isnt normally stocked. I know because I had to wait like 2 months for my oem bore pistons and in the ended I needed a .050 overbore so I used some NPR pistons and rings instead.
****IF ANYONE NEEDS A SET UP OEM KA24DE PISTONS AND RINGS BRAND NEW AND SOME SUPERTECH VALVE SEALS PM ME I HAVE SETS OF BOTH FOR SALE!****

I checked at a dealership yesterday and they're discontinued. I should be ok with stock replacements from beck/arnley or something.

I would add:
freeze plugs
timing chain
oil pump
thermostat
water pump
new hoses while at it
and make sure to get one of these for instant e-cred:

When I did the KA rebuild I used these items:
-Sealed Power Rod bearings, main bearings, piston rings,
-Fel-Pro valve grind gasket set (head gasket up)
-Cloyes Timing kit (comes with all the sprockets, a better positive than the OSK kit)
-Misc. gaskets and seals on the lower end from Nissan (most is silicone)
-Altrom engine oil pump (literally a Nissan unit, they just shaved the Nissan logo off, only available at NAPA/Riebes)
-Nissan knock sensor and sub-harness
-DNJ/Rock Parts head bolts
Everything has been holding up VERY well, and would rebuild one with these parts again. Between this engine rebuild (7k miles ago) and the transmission I just rebuilt, the car is running like a champ!!!

Bumping an old thread...
I remember UMSPORTS use to sell a KA rebuild kit for cheap. They no longer around?
Suggestion for this thread - People should start listing what they bought and how much the rebuild cost with those parts. Would give everybody a good idea of what is up...
