Im looking into purchasing some 16x8 wheels and am wondering what offset would make the wheels as flush as possible with the fenders, cause they are only offered in +38 and +42 which to me seems like way too much of a fwd offset.

neither are even close to flush
need a +30 or lower to even get close.
i'd say a +20 but..+30 is 'safe'

Alright so I have now looked around more and came up with the 15x8 in a +15 offset, but my questions is what would u suggest for more of an autocross size, from what I have read the wider the better to an point. I own a '89 coupe that will soon have JIC-Magic FLT-A2 coilovers and am wondering if it will have a wierd look to it with 15inch rims. Although this is not that big of a deal concidering how light the rims are. Is a 16x8 wheel going to have an advantage over a 15x8wheel or vise-versa?

15x8 will be better than 16x8 because of the gearing, assuming you have the same sidewall height for the tires. Smaller wheels allow you to accelerate quicker and since you won't be needing big track style brakes, small and wide is what you want for autocross.
