Neighbors told me 3 unmarked cop cars with low profile officers in them came by my apartment today while i was at work and started walking around my S14 with cameras.

He told me they went to some other apartment then 5 minutes later were all around my car. Taking pictures of my plates, military decals, stickers (by stickers they were probably looking at the intercooler), and looking inside the car for a good 15 minutes.

Why do I have a bad feeling about this? Highly modified SR20 S14 with Washington plates in Cali.....I bet they are mad.

Time to daily the S14! haha

Anyway, I'd be worried too but I don't think anything will be done. Worse case scenario, they ask you about it. Just tell them you're running a KA, that should get them off of your back haha

I do daily it lol. Daily it almost every day for the last six months here. Never had issues before that aside from the occasional glare from PD.

They are probably profiling me. Putting the pics in some "Possible Paul Walker" file for when they see it out past 10o'clock Hahaha.

"It's a stock KA sir. Oh that? (Points to fmic) that's my radiator. I actually have two of them because the KA likes to run at the temperature of the sun"

i wouldn't worry too much about it. they can't get you for the SR swap since you're on WA plates. CA emissions rules do not apply to you since your car is foreign to CA. also since you're Military, you have the right to keep your car registered out of state, since you guys move around a lot.

next time you see the PD, drive by them & be like...

they are probably just butt hurt.

or some similar wanna be racer or drifter did some dumb shit and your car fit the suspects vehicle.

in the end though they have no legal right to do shit as long as you dont do some dumb shit.

I asked my neighbor about this. That was my first thought also. But they had legit cars, and sidearms apparently. Not hard to mimic being a low profile officer though. The cars however, might take a lot to mimic the lap top, light grill and rear cage.

It is a possibility though. :/

I would rather have it be cops hassling me than thieves.

Good Luck, but you have to pass CA emissions to get a Decal so they got you, if they want to. Also there are so many auctioned off CA state vechicles it wouldn't be hard to have one reseamble an active one. I would suggest calling the PD and asking, unless it's an open investigation they will tell you. It could be as simple as someone reported that you have stolen parts on your car. IDK but if the PD rolled up on you that easy what do you think a thief is going to do? I'd try to garage it, or move. Renting a house/townhouse in NCSD are usually cheaper I learned or the same price with more space, garage and privacy. BTW Good neighbors for keeping an eye out, but tell them next time ask what the hell is going on, or call the police.

My decals don't expire till 2014. I made sure they didn't expire until after I left Cali lol.

I really want a garage :/

Yea its parked outside, usually under a car cover. It's parked literally 8ft from my bedroom and living room Windows, so that's a small plus.

I'm yet to get pulled over here. I get the looks and flares from officers but I'm never hassled. I drive slow lol.

More than likely your car just fit the profile for someone being stupid. Legally they can't do anything since you already have decals. To get on base you obviously must have decals but the loophole for them is since we are stationed in Cali we must meet the state smog requirements.

You think you ridedirty? I have a boosted LS1 drag S13 that I daily lol.

In camp pendleton? There's nothing out there lol. You could roll hoodless with a 78mm turbo popping out and no one would really care lol

I have my wife looking over the car today jaha....im worried.

Yeah in Camp P. There are more cops and PMO than you think. Most of the time they'll drive right past me because my car doesnt sound like poop and I dont have a crazy body kit on it. I would invest into a Lojack if you have the dough, you never know who wants to tow your car away.

From Esco to Oceanside the cops have better things to worry about.
Mira Mesa, Clairmont, Kearny Mesa , Chula Vista and Santee, they hawk your shit.

Did you call the Police and ask?

Dude, it is simple, you are in CA with WA plates driving a highproifle car, meaning not a stock civic or a corolla, and your modified, they probably have seen you around and are trying to figure out that you dont live in WA anymore and are going to try to force you to get CA plates, so the rapage can commence.

unlegendary
07-27-2011, 01:51 AM
i think if the cops figure out that your car has been in california for more than three months, they can use that against you and say that you are trying to avoid CA state law. that would take three months of documenting but you never know who's watching though.

without records, i think it would be a pretty easy case in court.

all the other reasons in this thread sound reasonable too, watch out! hahaha

As long as your military you're good with out of state plates. Iv'e seen personally in court the judge breaking people down shotgun style for not registering cars after the period. If entertaining watching people bury themselves in thier own BS.

JeKyL
07-29-2011, 02:53 AM
they can try to profile all they want and have your ass go to court but theyll lose as long as you got valid orders and out of state residence you dont have to worry if the cop even goes to those lengths then hes an idiot

Why are people still arguing the the point of his WA Plates? He has said over and over again he is military. Nonresident military personnel stationed within the state of CA are exempt from having to register their vehicles in CA.

Vehicle Information for Military Personnel in California (http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fast_facts/militaryvr.htm)

You are suppose to fill this form out but no one really does. Its obvious with base decals, a military ID and it shows on your record when being pulled up that you are DoD.
