Need some help to answer a couple questions...

Back story, bought a car with a redtop swap already done supposedly done professionally. It had a fluctating idle when I bought it. Went to drop a new head on and the stock cams only the exhaust cam would line up with the dark link when on tdc.

Fast forward, did the cam swap and I was having a friend help me out and he thought it was better to setup the new cams how the old ones acme out. Instead of matching the timing marks up.

My question is, can I take out the tensioner and rotate the exhaust cam until the intake cam lines up also?
Or do I have to redo everything?

Just take both cam gears off and rotate the crank until the timing marks look like they are in the right positions... Slide cam gears on, check alignment, making sure cyl 1 cam lobes point out. You may have to drop the lower oil pan to get your crank timing lined up correctly.

This is what I'm looking for.

Hey man if it's a KA, you're in luck...

Here's a FAQ I wrote a while back.

Fix an incorrectly installed lower timing chain (http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/incorrectly-installed-timing-chain.html)

EDIT: Damn, just saw that it's a redtop. That guide should work with the SR too...just try I guess.
